Talking Teflon

Hi...Anone had the teflon package ???? if so what do you think of it ?????
I had it done cost me $400 at the time I have a black enthusiast so being black I thought it was a good idea, I was told it protects against suv's, salt, bird crap, minor scratches, ect ect , when i had it done it really looked great kind of gave the color more of a luster the inside looked like crap tho as though somebody just wiped the trim over with armourall thankfully its wearing off,
I ask the question cus I went to a meet a few weeks ago and met alot of other Z owners ( great day out ) I was the only one that had the teflon coating, guys were saying na its just a rip off and a wast of time and money and that a good car wax would do the job just as well, Im not unhappy with the teflon if it works to soon to tell I guess I'v only had the car for about a month but if a six doller tin of wax does the job I guess I wasted my money .

From what I understand, it's just a fancy wax job. You'd be better off using a sealant like Zaino or crystal gaurd.

Unhappy Sorry

Sorry, mb27 is correct... anyother dealer rip-off. Just like the old Scotch guard $199 treatment (you could buy it yourself for $2.99 in a can) & $499 "undercoating" treatment. Everyone caught on and the dealers move to a new scam! In a couple of months you'll be having to wax it like everyone else!

Sorry

Peace

Well, don't feel alone cause I had the treatment done to my CS. Same price as you--though I hear some folks got it for free...whatever.

Two months on and the car shines and water beads up nicely. Another thing I've read on some posts is that a couple Zaino folks who've put on multiple layers have had trouble with bird stains that can't be removed. I've certainly had a few bird droppings on the car's finish, but never had a problem with getting the stain completely removed.

Everyone's got a favorite....and I'll just say that I'm certainly not dissatisfied with the protectant. One other thing: this teflon is NOT the same thing that's put on frying pans!

Did your Teflon application by chance include any additional warranties to the paint? Reason said, I know my fiance recently paid a bit extra to have the interior on her car scotch guarded, but this also covers any damage done to the interior for five years, fault or not.

Hi,
Yes, I got a 5 year warranty on paint finish and interior. Essentially, with the finish, if a stain cannot be removed the company that provides the TOC product to Nissan will repaint the affected area. Also suppose to protect against UVL & acid rain.
The warranty is also transferable.

I'm not trying to neccessarily promote this product (I seem to have a lot of posts on this subject), but no one has really proven to me that the product doesn't meet it's claims. Also, some folks really enjoy waxing their cars every two weeks--hey I LOVE my car, but every two weeks is a bit much for me.

The product is warranteed by the TOC manufacturer not the dealer .....hate to say but I went the same route once....good luck if you ever need to have warranty work done....if they do repaint it will look worse.....and in my friends case the company folded......good advice is to treat the seats with scotchguard and keep a good wax on the exterior...I prefer 3m perfect-it but there are many other good waxes out there..BTW I wax every 3 months and use a good car wash that wont strip the wax...when I do go to wax the car I use dishwashing detergent (helps to strip the old wax) ..just my $.02

From what I recall, the guys that had the bird stains weren't using Zaino. They were either using something else or nothing at all.

I've had bird stains and have had no problem whatsoever simply wiping it right off. One particularly large GLOP stayed on my car all day while I was in surgery (probably 8-10 hours in the sun) and everyone who saw my car that day made it a point to come in and tell me about it since they know what a fanatic I am with the car.

I got it home and rinsed with water to get the bulk off, dried it, and then squirted with Z-6 and PRESTO no stain.

Default same deal here

The dealer I bought my Z from tried to collect 200.00 dollars for a so called paint sealant which they said is put on every car which hits the lot, I refused to pay for it, so they took it off the price to make the sale.

Which really infuriates the hell outta me. I mean, I want to protect my car, the finish, the interior, so why do they jerk everyone around? The TOC product appears to be ok, but what, no standard pricing? I've heard as much as $800 for the protectant package down to FREE...wtf?

And dealers are whining they get no respect? Well, it only takes a few misleading ones to rot out the bunch, I guess..

Default teflon

sorry to rain on the concept- teflon does not bind to anything once the polymers have reacted. the teflon particles can get squeezed into cracks (like some of the engine additive stuff) and teflon has a low coefficient of friction so engines can run with a little less friction for a while- until the teflon is trapped in the oil filter and lost from the engine. On paint- "it don't do nuthin' ". One or two of the replys or three or four, said it is a rip-off- yep, that's right. Try to get your money back.

If you think that there is an effect on the interior cloth- buy a can of Scotchguard and spray it around the seats every now and then.

Talk about timing. I put the money down last night on my new Z (including a $250 charge for the "Teflon" treatment - exterior only.) After doing some research today though, called up the dealer and luckily the sales woman wasn't slimy enough... She said it hadn't been done yet, and let me out of it without issue. 3.5 hours 'til pick-up....

Putting an order for Zaino tonight...

As I continue to say: Everyone has a favorite.

My car has not been waxed/treated since May 10, 2003 when I picked my car up after the TOC application. I wash the car every two weeks and water beads up like a fresh coat of wax was just put on.

So, what's not working? Where's the rip off? How much would folks have spent on all of the Zaino products in the same time period?

I'm not puttin' down other products, just wonderin'........

The old lady across the street had the dealer treatment on her car for $500, it was supposed to last for 5 years, it only lasted 3 car washings.

How does it protect against SUVs? That's a cool trick for a sealant. It can stop large, 4500lb+ vehicles from damaging your Z!

You got ripped off in a major way, Teflon does zero in a wax or polish, it just sounds "cool" Teflon has to be applied to only bare paint at like 600 degrees for it to bond (like on a frying pan)

The dealeship is laughing 400 dollars worth at you all the way to the bank. ALL dealer waxes and sealant jobs are inside scams, that is just the facts. Do a www.google.com search of "Dealer paint sealant scams" and you will get all kinds of hits of people filing law suits and some good info about these scam artists....

You should have lived up to your handle "willpower" and said NO!!!

You will be much better off if you buy a quality wax or polish and do it yourself.

As a matter of fact, these sealants deals actually HARM the life of most paints as it fools the consumer into thinking he has some kind of magical coating on his paint so he or she never waxes or polishes his paint and soon it looks like crap after a few years.....
