Default Cleaning rust off of rotors

Other than steel wool & scotch brite pads or brake cleaning fluid (be careful of paint)...what else can be used?

Rotors, the part that touches the brake pad, is supposed to be dirty. Leave it alone.

He might be talking about the center of the rotor or maybe the hub.

Take the brakes apart.
Paint the rotors.
Put it back together again.
