Default Just had car detailed - questions

Hey guys, I just got my car back from getting detailed yesterday. Before taking it in I let the detailer know that I had a few horizontal hariline scratches on the hood. These scratches had a faint white appearance and were visible from most angles (still not sure how they got there, although my car is black). After I got my car back, it initailly appeared that the scratches were gone. However, when I got the car home and inspected it further, I noticed that the scratches were still visible, but only at certain angles, in certain light. They had also lost their "whitish" appearance and were now basically the color of the car, but still there (if that makes sense). Does anyone know what this might mean? If so, is there any way that I could remove them permanently?

Thanks

it's most likely a deeper scratch...not deep enough where it went straight to the metal, but deep enough where you would have to use an aggressive polish or maybe even a light wetsanding job in that area.

the reason why it looks better but doesn't go away completely is because the abrasives in the polish rounds off the edges on the scratch making them look less noticable but it's still there.

I would just leave it like that. you don't want to take off too much clear coat in one area of the car if it's not a big of a deal.

I do recall the detailer saying that the paint on the hood was a good deal thinner than the rest of the car. I think the hood was about 65 micrometers or so compared to the rest of the car being around 90-100.

Surprised that the detailer did not give you an explanation about technique and expectations.

good advice: if you go to make an appt or drop off and your detailer DOESNT give you a heads up of whats gonna be done, how and the results...dont leave it there..

likely he couldn't go as deep as he would have liked with his correction. I would guess he did some correction and used a glaze before applying a sealant or wax. The glaze will fill the scratches in and lessen their appearance
