Default Clouded Paint/Clearcoat- Advice Please (PICS)

Hello everyone and SORRY FOR THE NOVEL-SIZED POST

I've been a lurker for awhile now haha just reading up on the diys and how-tos. Anyway, I tried to do a search but can't seem to find anything that relates to what's happening to my car. If this has already been discussed I apologize, and please link me to the old thread. Here's the deal: 05 Superblack (KH3), after washing my car a few weeks ago, I began to notice a clouded-like finish on the roof and hatch of the z. I washed it again last evening, and the clouded paint is still there. There are also minute white spots ALL over the car which I can't remove. Has anyone experienced this before, and knows what is causing it? Also, does anyone know if this is a clouded clearcoat or faded paint, and if it's removable? I've done everything short of cleaner wax or a portercable w/polish, and wanted to get advice before I bought the pc (just in case it won't remove the cloudiness). I know the swirls are pretty awful (stealership ran thru the carwash even though I said no) which is part of the reason I'm planning to get the portercable, but I'll just respray if the pc can't fix the cloudiness.

The normal routine except for claybar, which is used 3-4 times a year:
turtle wax car soap (microfiber wash mitt w/2 bucket method)
DI fine grade clay w/diluted turtle wax soap as the lube
poorboy's world natty blue wax (microfiber applicator w/microfiber towel to buff)
^Are any of the materials above contributing to the cloudiness, or is this something I can go to the dealer w/since the car is still under warranty? Car is garaged about half the year and outside half the year in socal.

Thanks for the help.

There is no cleaner listed.

Wax is just rolling ***** of dirt on the surface. You wax dirt then next time wax more dirt. Wax and dirt adhere to surface imperfections leaving white dots.

It looks like your panels have been repainted with inferior paint or poorly mixed clear (too much reducer). You could try sanding lightly with 2000 grit and then buffing with a proffessional buffer/materials. Sand the shine off (be careful) a small test area first. If that doesn't work then you'll have to have it re-painted.

Would not have know if I had not experienced a similar situation.

A good cleaner will remove everything down to the clearcoat. That way you can start with a fresh surface.

It looks like you have a combination of some light to moderate swirls with some water marks also on the surface and some oxidation. To solve all three I would not use a cleaner wax or just a chemical polish. A polish with micro-abrasives is what you really want. I know those words can sound scary but they are totally safe and easy to use. I would highly recommend the DI Packages Porter Cable 7424 XP, Meguiar's Polish and Hydro Pads. After you wash, dry, clay, then use the buffer and this two step polishing process. It will safely and easily restore the paint to a brilliant gloss that makes it look and feel better than new. After that you can apply the Natty's Blue. Let me know if you have any other questions I'd be happy to help.

I also don't usually use a microfiber wash mitt anymore they seem to grab and collect too many particles, which you want to rinse free in your rinse bucket. Instead try a DI Accessories Sheepskin Wash Mitt or a Lake Country Blue Grout Sponge. Both should be a little bit safer and work great.

the water marks are only temporary: I did not dry the car the day before since I knew i would wet it again when i tried to remove the cloudiness. I was also under the impression that the white specks were oxidation, but after applying the cleaner most of them were removed, and the DI fine grade claybar removed the rest. This is why I think davidv was on the right path. After these steps the paint only had swirls, but was otherwise completely clear and spot free. w/regards to the portercable, would you still suggest that I get the meguiar's polish knowing that I only have swirls? I was under the impression that menzerna polish would work better on dark cars

Glad to hear those steps helped remove those watermarks. Usually when I get a message the water marks have etched in the clear coat a bit more and those steps don't work. Swirls can be very challenging to remove so yes the Meguiar's/Porter Cable kit I recommended would still be a great choice. The Menzerna polishes are also outstanding so both will work. These polishes should be able to bring a noticeable improvement to the depth and gloss of your paint. I find both to be excellent but the Meguiar's are the better value so that is why I recommend them first.

Here are some kits I would suggest you consider like I listed before but also with menzerna kits:

DI Packages Porter Cable 7424 XP, Meguiar's Polish and Hydro Pads
DI Packages Porter Cable 7424XP, Meguiar's Polishes and Hydro Pads Starter Kit

DI Packages Porter Cable 7424XP, Menzerna Polishes and Hydro Pads Starter Kit
