Default Using ZAINO for first time : Towel Suggestions, H E L P

I just got my ZAINO kit in today and am going to be using it for the first time!

I have read every possible post on ZAINO and have a strong feeling as to how to use it effectively

However, I have not bought any DFTowels yet, and I want to use my ZAINO today ; being as I have enough time for it. And I need to know what everyone would reccomend as to what type of towels I should go and get from a local store to get the job done right.

I know I need 100% Cotton towels, but does anyone have any specific suggestions?

My places of access is: Wal-Mart, Target, and Autozone

I hope someone can help me soon so I can get started!

Thank you sooo much

Respectfully,
Christopher

I don't think any of the above places have the quality of towel you need or want to use. The label may SAY %100 cotton but in many cases it isn't true. It only took like 4-5 days until I ordered and then received my DF towel. I really think it is worth the wait in the long run. I'd trade the 4-5 day wait for peace of mind that I'm not scratching/swirling my paint.

Default Same thing

I was thinking the exact same thing. I just put in my order today, so I have no problem waiting it out :-)

The only big problem is that my car is VERY DIRTY due to all of the rain we have been getting here in the midwest the past 4 DAYS!!

It is supposed to be very nice and sunny over the next 3 days - and I wanted to have my car a bit clean so I can get all of the rainwater and spots off my car.

Any suggestions as to what I can do until I get my towels? I refuse to take the chance in scratching my paint.

I hope someone can give me an idea as to what I can do so I can clean up my 2004 Z :-)

I've used Fieldcrest cotton towels for years with no problems. You can find the irregulars online or at outlet malls, or you can find the "first quality" at many linen departments of decent department stores, or a Bed Bath & Beyond kind of place. SOMEHOW, we all managed to survive before the DF towel.

Just wash the car with the Z-7, go to NAPA and buy the 100%, white colored cotton wash mit of the NAPA brand, and you can dry the car with The Absorber (sold at WalMart, what I use to dry with)

BTW, I am not far from you and I am a DF towel distributor, I have plenty of the medium and large towels in stock. I ship them first class mail. One towel for 2 dollars and two towels for 3.00 dollars shipping.

Pillowtex, the parent company of Fieldcrest/Cannon filed Chapter 7 on July 31st of 2003 and shut down all operations. These towels are no longer made in the Fieldcrest name. If you can find any in stores or on the internet you have looked more than I have as all my sources have dried up and I order probably more than a 1,000 towels per year, I was getting them factory direct out of North Carolina but that dried up also.

If you want to purchase the best cotton toweling in stores, it will NOT be found in discount stores or at parts stores. You will need to look for a couple of things, Supima is the BEST kind of cotton used in a bath towel, must be made in the USA, and white color only. I have since replaced my towel purchases with a Supima cotton towel made by WestPoint Stevens that some of my customers use in conjunction with the DF towel.

Can anyone give me a suggestion as to which and how many towels I should purchase for zaino and general maintanance for the Z?

I am thinking of purchasing 3 medium dftowel (29.5 x 16 inches) and 3 small dftowel (12 x 12 inches)

Does anyone recommend other sizes such as the xs (8.25 x 8.25 inches) or large (36 x 20 inches) or a different quantity?

Any help would be appreciated.

The 100% Cotton Towels "Fieldcrest" are on the top shelf gathering dust since making the switch to DF Towels. Get 2 of the small for windows. I have two mediums for applying and buffing Z6. Fold in half, use one side for applying the other for buffing. After doing one side of the "Z", reverse fold and complete the other side. Get 3-4 of the large for Z5 and Z2. Eventually Leo will release an applicator that will be a must. Oh yes, look at getting some "BigBlue" towels for drying. I started with 2, now have 4. Look at pakshak.com. Excellent quality and service.

Why don't you try sending a PM to Kevin Overall. He is a DF Towel distributor and see if him mailing is cheaper. They are extremely lite. UPS, FEDEX or USPS should not be that $$$$.

Question

Hi guys,

I'm a little late to this conversation but wondering what people are using for washing duties using Z7? I am currently using a small hand towel from Fieldcrest folded over (100% supima cotton). Anyone see any flaws in this? I am using the same type for buffing Z5 and putting on Z6 (basically everything).

My problem is I see some small swirl marks all over under lights in certain angles in parking lots (at night of all times). It does sit outside so not sure if this is because of the elements. Most likely I was thinking maybe I did it. Are my towels possibly no good? They were $$$

Should I switch to DFTowel for everything?

I use an all cotton wash mit, the kind you put your hand in, they are hard to find but I have plenty. I like them as they are way more fluffy than a towel and no chance to drop it on your hand.

For everything else I use DF towels and Supima cotton toweling..
