The guy at the car wash has more crap in him than the Christmas turkey, scratches come from bad towels or bad washing mits....

What kind of each are you using.

The way to correct the problem is to use a product like Zaino Z-5 designed to fill in scratches and swirls and to also try to remove as many imperfections before you start with Z-5 using 3M Swirl Mark Remover part number 39009.

Have not been in your situation, but concur in Kevin's comments on the "guy the car wash". He was right on the "towels" be it washing or drying also. Also, have never had a need to use the 3M product, so can't comment on that either.

I can tell you that using Zaino will do wonders. You might just want to get the "kit" and start removing wax with a Dawn wash, moving on to claying. Then washing with Z7 and polishing with Z5 and Z2, both with ZFX. Oh yes, you will also be using Z6. A lot of "Z's" to go along with your "Z". Also, get some towels from dftowel.com

I use Z2; and I have swirls; but not noticable.

if you can maintain a black car with 0 swirls; you let me know, Ill come park my car in your driveway and you show me what you do.

use microfiber, and water blades and Z5. you might break even filling in as many as you create. but with a black car Im afraid thats the best you can hope for. it still looks awesome.

Even the best towel is going to minutely scratch and will add up over a longer period of time(MANY uses and months). However I agree with the above that good towels go a LONG way.

positive or negative about these towels:

It seems to be a great price. Concerns me a bit that they are not all natural fiber.

Thanks

The DF towel is the only micro fiber towel I have seen on the market that is all natural fiber, all others are polyester and nylon.

Kevin, I've only used the DF towels since I got my car. I was thinking about purchasing the "Big Blue" seems like alot of people recommend it. I have to use two large DF towels to dry. One to wipe and the other to remove any access water marks. (I have hard water) Do you know if the Big Blue is polyester or nylon? And also, do you have an opinion about the Big Blue drying towel?

Default black color problems

I used to own a black expedition, and it got swirl marks. I used Meguiar's Swirl reducer with a random orbital buffer/polisher. It worked perfectly!!! It removed all of the swirl marks and left a beautiful shine. Of course, you have to wax it after you do this, as it is not protected anymore. I had never done this before and I got compliments from the dealer when I took it in for service... and it was like three years old then.

So, give it a try, you have nothing to lose, right?

Regarding the microfiber towels...I found some at Costco this past summer, and they work great!! They're distributed by EUROW CORPORATION out of Thousand Oaks, CA.

They're yellow, 16" x 16" and came in a package of 12 for around $9. Only thing is they are not natural fiber. 80% polyester/20% polyamide.

I use them to dry off the car, and to remove wax, as they don't scratch the surface.

be careful with any swirl removers; they are abrasive; and can eat through the clear coat. a wetsand is nothing more than an orbital polisher and 2000grit polish. but they are experienced at it; and charge 800-1000$ for a job. but on the bright side; itll not only take care of swirls, itll get out 80% of the orange peel too.

doing it yourself you risk burning through at the edges; which would look aweful
