If anyone is interested, CrystalGuard is offering a Xmas special of 10% off all purchases for the month of December. This would be a good time to either try the products or give them as a gift, I suppose.

Use the coupon code XMASSPECIAL

I've applied CG Quick and want to add body side moldings. Do I have to remove the CG Quick first before "sticking" on the moldings? If I don't, will the moldings not adhere as well as they should?

IMO I think if you just clean the surface area that you're applying the molding to like alcohol, I'm sure it would be just fine. Better get call Jim first to know for sure.

The directions said to leave it on the vehicle for 2-3 hours, I left it on there overnight. The following morning I rinsed it with MF and followed it with the Top coat spreading it with MF. Again, I left it on the vehicle overnight then rinsed it the following day.
REACTIONS:
After two days the paint is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING on gloss. My girlfriend described it best when she said that it looks like a fresh candy that you just want to lick. My car is a Daytona Blue Z and it just brings out the metalic blue color, it just shimmers.
It got rained on the next day and after it cleared up I rinsed it off with MF and it shimmered right up.
I usuallly worry about water spots the day after it gets washed but this takes care of it. The spot is easily removed with just a MF.
My car sat under a covered parking for at least four days, my concern usially at this point is dust. I usually need to dust her off even if it's just the day after. I didn't have to do it this time. Of course there are some dust on it but not as bad as it was before.
PERSONALLY, I like the results that I've gotten. It will soon be winter here and with winter comes snow and salted roads. I wanted a good product that will protect the paint finish just like what they are claiming to do. I guess the real test is there. I will see how it stands out when Spring comes next year.

This review was completed after the first week and a half of getting it done. Here are my thoughts on it now.
This is a good product and I like what I'm seeing. One thing that amazed me yesterday. I found a bird bomb on her yesterday. Usually regardless if you remove it imediately or not, there usually a spot on the paint of it's removed. Not the case here, as soon as I wiped it off with some detailing spray, GONE. Also, there has been some water spots thoughout the car due to the rain we had during the last couple of days. Usually, you would need to spray it with detailing spray to get them removed. I tried something, I ran my fingers accros one of the water spots and it came right off. I took a MF and can easilly remove them without trying. VERY COOL!!! Now here's the down fall.... The scratches on the car is now easily visible. I knew that it doesn't fill in the swirls but I didn't think that it would be HIGHLIGHTED once the product is applied. I wish that I would have known this prior to application. Actually, I could have sworn that I read in a CG thread somewhere that it fills SOME swirls. This is the only problem that I have at this point. I'm not really able to do anything to it until Spring. I would need to remove CG and try to hremove these scratches. At that point I'll decide if I will continue using it. I sent an e-mail to Jim at CG asking what I could do to take care of this but haven't recieved a response yet.
Excellent report, thanks. Sounds like it is worth trying, despite the potential problem you mentioned with swirls. I haven't yet definitively decided, but if I order I will keep everyone posted.

The Quick should last a few months, though if the weather is bad maybe less. It really all depends on your driving and environment. I would recommend you use the CG Wash along with CG Quick and you'll be quite happy with the results.

Quick note: There is a next generation formula being developed for the Quick that will fill in swirl marks. This should be available soon...

I have been testing CGQ for few month here in Japan. It lasts over 3 months with most of the cars if you do the preparation right. Actually we just upgraded CGQ. CGQ for US market will be upgraded in spring season or so!

I have a black 350z, and the biggest problem I have is the damn dust. Literally, after an hour of washing, I have a nice think layer of visible dust on the car. Does CG prevent dust from sticking to the surface of the paint, and the wheels? From those that have used the product....how effective is CG is reducing this problem?

OK, I just recieved my CGQ and did my first application last night. Here is how the process went for me.

My car is only 1 month old, so I didn't bother doing any pre-work to the paint. I just washed it with normal car wash soap and a sheepskin washing mit. I rinsed the car, and then sprayed about 2-3 sprays per body panel, and also did the glass and wheels. I then took a dry microfiber cloth and gently rubbed the liquid around the car. By the time I completely circled the car, the water had miraculously dried to a brilliant shiney wet look! Per the instructions, I took my hose and rinsed the car, and then dried with a super absorbant synthetic towel.

The car looks absolutely stunning. Even with a black car, I didn't notice ANY swirl marks or streaks. I am really impressed with this product. In the sunlight, the car looks just dripping went and shiny. Thanks! And all of this took me less than 30 minutes including the WASH!

So after going thru some of the posts, I have a question.

All you have to do is wash with CGW, then apply the CGQ.
After this all you do is reapply the CGQ whenever and never use the wash again?

Thanks in advance for your help.

From what i recall, you use the CG wash everytime before applying CG quick for proper bonding. They work together well. any other crystal guard user should be able to confirm this.

I quit using the CQW about 4 coats ago, I don't think it has made any difference. A big bottle of McGuire's soft Gel soap works fine then CGQ.

The CG Wash is a very good product to use. It has Top coat chemicals in the shampoo and it helps fill in microscopic scratches in the crystal coating. I recommend using CG Wash every time you wash the car and use the Quick every 1-2 months (or at your discretion). I persoanlly love the wash.

As for the next generation of CrystalGuard, we are looking at a spring time release. I think you guys will be quite impressed with the next version. It fills in swirls better and the formula looks different. More to come in the next few months.

If anyone wants a discount, please contact me directly at jim@crystalguard.com and I'll give you a 10% discount on orders for the next few weeks...just let me know you're a Z memeber...

keep us updated Jim. I was really impressed by the shine with the crystal guard. But it tends to highlight the flaws of the paint after a wash. I do like the glassy look it gives on black paint. Very nice product.

email jim from crystal guard. I emailed him but haven't recieved any answers back. i am also excited about the new product. I've used the old version it really looks fantastic. Crystal guard looks better after a wash. It becomes more clear and reflective after it cures. Let us know, if you get any info on the new product.
