Default Anybody use California Duster?

I use the water blade all the time...just wondering if the Duster was any good? Someone brought it up in another post on keeping the wheels clean...I was wondering if the duster would work well for brake dust? (no, I will not use it on anything else if I use it for brake dust...don't worry.)

Don't think it would work to well on brake dust. I use it as a daily duster. Funny thing about it is it seems to get better the more I use it.

As for the water blade, I've always been afraid of getting sand under the blade and getting scratches. You like it though? I use a Big Blue Drying Towel. I can dry the entire car without wringing it out. Great product.

I currently use the water blade from Griot's Garage on my Stealth and have never seen any scratches. With the Zaino, it really seems to glide right over the car. I also have used the California Car Duster for about 6-7 years and it is great. The dirtier it gets the better it seems to pick up the dust.

The CA Duster is very good for dark colored cars--excellent for brushing dust off quickly in one sweep. Sometimes it leaves red fibers behind, but it comes off as you drive.

Don't use the CA duster on your wheels. The yarn used in the duster is coated with paraffin, which will collect brake dust like a magnet, and then possibly cause scratches on the finish.

NSANY, well put, that why you should NEVER use it on wheels, plus, the brake dust is pretty well on there. Remember when using the duser on the finish, it shoud be barely touching, and the static electricity wil l pull the dust off the car, never rub the car with the duster.

Also, about the water blade, nce tool, but BE CAREFULL, many of my detailing freinds have repoerted hairline scratches. The key is to wie the blade down after EVErY pass. But it gets rid of water with great ease.

Please clarify. Does that mean the particles don't get spread over the surface and scratch it? Seems to me that any dry wiping could cause scratches unless it's done very gently.

I don't recomend dry wiping, either wipe with a Microfiber cloth and some quick detailing spray, or GENTLY use the duster. If your car is quite dusty but not in need of a washing, you can use the duster, then use a towel and some QD spray.

Cool Cal. duster

I go through two of them each year, and they really work.

Important -- before you use it on the car, place the duster on some newspapers for at least two-three days. The excess goop they are coated with will come off onto the paper. The paper will really soak it up.

I use the dusters I am finished with, to wipe off the wheels. It is not a substitute for a real cleaning, but it keeps the wheels looking good for quite a while. Once used on the wheels, do not use it on the car!!!
