Default weather stripping/interior polish...

Ok, i have two questions, first i used Meguiers interior protectant on my rubber trim/weather stripping. excess got on my windows, car body. Will this hurt the paint???? How do i go about getting the smudges off my windows? Secondly, i have the 03 touring, the weather stripping on the wind shield the four corner pieces are dry rotten, they have began to deteriorate....will this cause leaking? If so, would it be advisable to put a small bead of black silicone under each one???? Any other suggestions about this would be fantastic. I dont have the cash to replace the entire pillars.....i wish. Thanks guys as always!

I'm a auto glass tech. The weather stripping will not cause leaking. It has nothing to do with the seal of your windshield and no matter what you do keep silicone away and off your car. It's the worst thing you could possibly do. Urethane is what holds in and seals your windshield. The days of rubber doing it are long long gone. Silicone is urethanes worst enemy. If the dry rotted rubber bothers you, simply replace it but be careful because you will have to remove the outer A pillar plastic which is brittle and has a good chance of breaking. As far as getting the smudges off your glass I would recommend using rubbing alcohol but only if your windows are not tinted. Hope this helps.

It will not damage your paint or seal. Just clean it using cotton buds.
