Default Why does this happen after waxing???

I was hoping someone can help me out with this. A few days after waxing my car, I get tiny white specks on the paint, usually in small clusters on the car. The little dots can usually be removed by lightly brushing the side of your fingernail over them. However, it also seems as though some of the spots have become permanent and possibly damaged the finish.

I use terry cloth towels to buff off the wax and immediately after buffing, the paint was perfectly fine. However, the specks show up a few days later and seem to be exacerbated by washing as well. It's as if the wax has hardened and come to the surface in the form of the white dots.

So. . . can anyone tell me what is wrong? Is it the quality of the wax or am I not buffing it off fast enough or what? Thanks.

What type of wax are you using? I used Zymol before (going to try something else next time) and the same thing happened. It's just white residue from the wax itself. I believe Zaino doesn't leave a white residue. Isn't it annoying how the residue shows up still weeks later? I'm definitely trying something beside Zymol next time...

Can anyone else comment on this?

Sounds like wax residue.

Personally, I have applied 6 coats of Zaino so far (lol..just got the car last Monday) and no sign of anything except my face in the reflection.

Ya symol is HORRIBLE for residue. after it rains its like glue on there.

it will eventually wear off.

try using a wax called liquid crystal or nufinish.

Probably using wy too much wax. Remember, thinner is always better. If you feel the coverage wasn't good, do another THIN coat.

Thanks for the responses. It wasn't Zymol--its Meguiars pro. cleaner wax (#6, I think). It's possible that I did put too thick a coat on, I'll be sure to thin it out next time.

The thing that is strange, though, is that it is not really like wax residue where spots "reappear" as though they were never buffed. What I'm getting on the paint is very very small white specks about the size of tip of a mechanical pencil. If they didn't rub off, I wouldn't know them from small nicks in the paint.

Brad, do you recommend a circular motion while applying wax or a side-to-side? I had a guy that drives a Viper tell me one time that it's best to use a side to side motion. Thanks!!!
