Rev up to 2,000 RPM's, slip in the clutch at about ~1/4 throttle (may be a tad more, but its all feel). When you feel your tires have hooked up to the pavement, than go WOT. You should be shifting close to the redline betwen 6400 - 6600. (Some people have different ways to launch)
You will most likely make a huge cloud of smoke or bog really bad on your first attempt on the 1/4 mile strip. With enough practice you will find what RPM's your most confortable to launch from.

haha i took my Z to the track after owning it for 3 months and it was my first manual car, my first run i ran 14.0 and 2nd run i ran 13.8. Deffinitly raise rpm levels and slip and then slam the pedal and shift at redline each gear and powershifting really helps. If you have an 03 z then just tear the hell out of ure tranny cuz its faulty anyway and you should get a replacement from your dealer.
