Default Finally hit 12's on NOS.

Yup, I finally did it! A 12 Sec. timeslip on stock internals, basic bolt-ons in a California Track!

Unfortunately, now I need to work on my 60' times, as they are extremly week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's what I got:

R/T: .012
60': 2.052
330: 5.527
1/8: 8.334
MPH: 90.47
1000: 10.754
1/4: 12.780
MPH: 114.18

Sooo, my trapspeed and 60' say I have room for improvement. Any suggestions other than switching over to slicks? Figured I try tune my driving skills (or lack off ) before I mod again.

Congradulations man. If you are running street tires in the OEM sizes, that is not a bad 60' time at all. I have hit several 1.9's on OEM sized tires, but just a different brand. Goodyear F1's, and am completely happy with that, considering that the wet traction of these tires is unbelievable. I am looking forward to uping my shot to a 125 like you!

Thnx guys.

As for Fontana, I don't think they lowered their limit. It was quit a packed house, and there were more Z's this time around. Apperantly not from this forum as no-one else has posted/replied about Fontana.

What sux is that the other 350z were having issues, one even ran a 19!!!!!!!!!!!!! Most averaged 16's!?!?!??!?!? Don't ask me what happened, I was in shock when I saw them getting spanked by little civic hatchbacks.

There was a guy out there from Fresno with a TT, but he couldn't hook-up, so he ran a 13.4 as his fastest run. Believe me, I was amazed to find out I had the fasted z that day....

damn
one of my team mates was there at 11 am and they turned him away saying their 300 car limit has been reached.

We are in the process or organizing a private track event in fontana, it'll be $70 to run and 80 cars max.
Since I am the only Z in my team (once I get my z back....) it would be great to have at least one more that's fast.
I'll post details here when the time comes closer since almost all of us are race car less because of blown engines and in my case my poor totalled Z

I ran a day earlier and got okay times. My Z's weight with driver was 3375lbs (12 gallons of gas, 50 pounds worth of daily junk, tires set at 35 PSI) I tried to keep all the settings close to stock including tires. No warming of the treads or lowering of the tire pressure.

60': 2.321
330: 6.377
1/8: 9.636 @ 77.71 MPH
1000: 12.380
1/4: 14.682 @ 99.73 MPH

The 60's at best with street tires is 2.2 with the tire pressure set at 35 PSI and no warming of the treads. California Speedway (Fontana) does not have a very well preped track or launch pad, it's a very slippery surface and no where near street level traction. Another problem with California Speedway is the nasty headwind that just comes on strong in the afternoon. With tire pressure lowered to 25 PSI and some warming of the treads you should be able to get 2.1 60's on streets. However, the biggest killer on this track is the slippery surface that compounds the wheelhop transitioning to 2nd at WOT.

The most common mistake when you see Z's running 15's and 16's is the TCS/VDC is not turned off. I forgot to turn it off a few times too.

Other than that, a stock Z should run 14.7 to 14.8 in Fontana. Lower the tire pressure and warm up the treads and they will do roughly 14.1 to 14.3.

I didn't get a chance to make it on Saturday to see the Z's run, I had a party to go to. Sorry I missed your 12 sec run.

Hmm, your friend got turned away at 11am? That's funny cuz they didn't OPEN the track until 12pm. They literally had people line up in the streets UNTIL the gates "officially" opened. They didn't reach cut-off until arount 130-ish.

As for the nitrous term; IT'S NOS. Not because of the F&F term you may be thinking of, but because of the brand. If not, I would of labled it Zex/NX or what ever. But I do understand... I to get annoyed at people referring to nitrous as "NAWZ".

And yeah, I kinda figured they left the VDC on. As funny as it sounds, some of the other drivers came up to us asking how did we pull-off the 12 sec run, when they were doing 16's. But then again, they were noobs at the track (not like I'm an expert). So we gladly gave them any helpful tips/advice we use at the track.

Well, if anyone is interested, the next time Fontana will open will be 04/09/05. I'll start a thread in the So. Cal area if anyone is interested.

I should be there this time, unless I get hijacked for another family event.
