Great times. power shifting definately does help if its done properly. In November I ran a 14.5@99 with a 2.4 60', and in March I ran at the same track power shifting and ran 14.02@102.8 with a 2.3 60'. Now i need to learn to launch.

Thanks, I agree. Although Im sure I could run within .1 of my 13.13 not powershifting doing quick lift throttle shifting. For me, its just a habit, cuz when I lift, I feel like Im slowing everything up as compared to when I just stay on the gas.

Alberto, watching you rip through the gears is always a pleasure. I think you mentioned that you were on your third "tranny". If by tranny you meant clutch I'm wondering if or why you haven't gone JWT or some similar setup. Or have you?

Im really on the 3rd tranny, and Im still on the stock clutch, I have a JWT clutch/fw combo, but my gay dealership wouldnt install it and warranty me any further tranny's. I know thats illegal, but my car got stuck in reverse, and I didnt have time to argue it with Nissan.

He's planning on letting them collect dust in his room until he decides to get something stronger to handle boost. Then he's going to give them to me.

Specifically what broke in each of the tranny replacements? I'm curious to see where the weak points are when powershifting. Most trannies aren't built to endure powershifting from the factory really.

Awesome times BTW! How's the stock clutch holding up with your shifting methods?

EDIT: Saw you ran at Cecil, that's my local track. I live in DE about 10-15 minutes away from Cecil Dragway. Where r u in MD?

Not 100% sure what broke but Im 90% sure the 1st one failed due to the weak synchros the earlier Z's came with, it grinded 2nd and 3rd gear really bad on cold mornings. My 2nd tranny mysteriously lost 5th gear, then 6th gear, then got stuck in reverse. Im on the "good" tranny now and I havent had a problem with it yet. Yes Im on stock clutch now at 48,000 miles, but I believe I remember seeing a new friction disk on the parts list last time I picked the car up for tranny work. These newer generation trannys are stout for sure, as are our stock clutches imo. Did I talk to you at the track?

From what I've seen the stock 6-speed is a VERY strong transmission. Performance motorsport took their Z into the low 10s on the stock 6-speed.

The clutch is very good too, I swapped in my JWT flywheel/clutch combo about a month ago and my stock clutch with 36K miles on it looked nearly brand new. I definitely wasn't nice to it either.

No, with a wifey and three kids I don't get much play time any more. I'm planning on making it to the track sometime soon though.

If it says they replaced the friction disc then you aren't on the "original" clutch. How many miles did you have when the tranny went out the first time?

If you want to get picky its 1/2 the original clutch Like I said I thought I remember reading that but I could be wrong. The original tranny took a $hit at 19K miles, 10K later the 2nd tranny was gone, now at 48K and doing ok with this one.

Hmmm...interesting. Wonder if the 6-speeds in the Maxima's and SE-R Altimas are similar units to the 350Z or not (and the G35's for that matter)??

The 6-speeds in the Maximas and altimas are VERY different mainly because they are in a FWD layout. They also use gears with smaller, weaker teeth, and lighter duty bearings. G35 trans is identical to the 350Z.

True, although usually it is the disc that goes before the pp.
