Exclamation 13.1 @ 107 All motor....

Went to the track yesterday, was there for 5 hours only got 3 runs in. My previous best with all these mods minus the ECU was a 13.74 @ 104 with a 2.1 60ft. My best stock was a 13.77 @ 101 with a 2.05 60ft.

1st run:

60ft - 2.216<----Worst I have pulled ever, usually pull 2.0's.
1/8 - 8.889 @ 83.58
1/4 - 13.585 @ 106.17 <----Very happy with this trap speed

2nd run: I mounted up some used slicks I bought-my first run ever with slicks, please excuse the weak a$$ 60ft, I didnt pull the brake fuse I barely warmed them up....

60ft - 1.956 <----Weak I know
1/8 - 8.481 @ 84.51
1/4 - 13.136 @ 107.09 <---This is the highest n/a trap speed Ive personally seen/heard of on here for a Z

3rd run: Pulled the brake fuse, warmed up the tires more, and what do you know I fuked it up-I bogged bad off the line, I dropped the clutch at about 6000 rpm's, I should have slipped it some, anyways...

60ft - 1.895 <----Better but still $hit imo
1/8 - 8.467 @ 83.87
1/4 - 13.161 @ 106.15

Overall I am VERY happy with the traps Im pulling, especially considering I dont have headers or cams. I am also very happy for going 13.1 on a weak 1.9 60ft, Ive seen guys go 1.7's and run 13.0-13.1. I really wanted to keep running on street tires because with my usual 2.0 60ft, I would have been 13.2-13.3 easy. And if I would have hit my mid to low 1.7 60ft like I wanted to on the slicks 12.8's are not out of the question. I just need more time to learn how to launch them, play with tire pressure's ect, Ill go 12's this season for sure For those that dont know my mods are : JWT Pop-charger, Crawford Plenum, Test-pipes, Crank Pulley, Injen Exhaust, Technosquare ECU---this set-up = 262 whp 252 ft lbs SAE corrected on a dynojet. Comments, suggestions? All are welcome....

**BTW I have a videos of the runs, Ill post the 13.1 @ 107 run later today or tomorrow.

Hey Bert! Sorry I left before your last run, I was about to fall asleep in the stands. I was pissed about only having two runs. There's no way I could learn how to launch in two runs. Cecil may be faster than Capitol, but f*ck that crowd. Next time we'll go to Crapitol so we can get enough runs in to figure stuff out.

No problem man I was almost falling asleep waiting for my last run. We need to go back in a few weeks, everybody showed up for the first Wed test and tune. That track was VERY sticky, I wish I hadnt lowered the tire pressure on the slicks for that last run, just warming them up @ 16 psi would prolly have been better. Oh well theres always next time....

Thanks, any pointers for a slick rookie? My first run I didnt heat them up I was at 16psi, 2nd run on slicks I dropped to 14.5 and heated them up, and that was more than enough grip cuz I bogged on a clutch drop. I think with a nice 5500 slip Ill be good to go.

dont slip you will kill your clutch

learn a launch point where you can drop and not drop the revs below peak torque. this is key.

you want to hit the gas the moment you pop that way it doesnt bog. How much gas you should give depends on what the car likes, too much and you might light the tires up, even this will still get you in the 1.7s i would guess. leave high with your linear power band.

I wish i had a new set of slicks, i am stuck with these pickey nittos. last time out i left at 5h and cut a 1.76... i cant believe my car hooke dthat well onm stock suspensiopn

Awesome times. How does your car sound with the test pipes? Which ones do you have? Did the ECU flash make a big difference?

I'm very impressed, you're some driver.

Thanks Ill just play with launch points some more, I wish I could pull 1.7 60ft's on some DR's...btw I didnt feel very comfortable powerbraking my 6-speed, it was the 1st time I have ever done that. I wish I had a line lock. Im scared of doing a 2nd gear burnout I dont want to melt my clutch doing that. I guess Ill have to get used to it, seeing as how a 1st gear spin wont heat them up.

I have some regular non-resonated Kinetix test-pipes. I think it sounds very throaty and mean, but many Z owners think its too loud and raspy. Check this vid out of me racing an STI and a stock Z to hear my car...1st 2 runs vs STI last 2 runs vs Z...

The ecu put my a/f's at a perfect 13.1 across the board, and gave me 9whp 12 ftlbs. I love the ability to be able to wind out 1st gear to 7100-a nice powershift into 2nd lands me at around 5600 rpm's

yeah 2nd gera burnout is a must, just make sure they are nice and wet, mine bogs and stalls before it hurts the clutch, but my clutch is stout

Oh ok, so just rev it high in 2nd and dump it in the water. How long do you usually burn them for 5-10 secs? I guess Ill try that next time, Ill just come out of the water box spinning in 2nd. I felt weird powerbraking my manual tranny car-moving my foot from the clutch to the brake, back to the clutch when I spun out of the water box, lol.

nono

spin the tires a few revolutions in the water, just quick in first

pull out of the water box, rev up high enough and pop the clutch, do not slip. jump your foot imediately to the brake of course. with slicks spin till you see some smoke and you can do 2 things, let off the gas and brake simultaneously or just let off the brake and letthe tires spin till they make that shredding biting sound, you will know. Or do that and as soon as it rolls out pop the clutch and letthem bite "chhhhirp"

what psi aer you running? i ran 12.5psi Hot my nittos are at 15 hot,

remember when you put tires on and get in the burnout they will go up 2 degrees.

if you have too much trouble with bogging, add air a little spin is better than a bog especially if you lack torque

Nice times! Im sick of hearing from all these Z owners that are saying you cant get 12s without cams or FI or any other hardcore mod thats not considered a bolt on. Makes me sick seeing how ignorant people really are(not talking about everyone). Great times, good luck with achieving that 1.7 60 ft.

Awesome times! Man that trap is awesome! It is definitely the highest NA trap I have seen. Myself and a couple of other NA Z's down here have run in the 106's but I have never seen a 107. If you put cams and rear end you should be around 109+ and definitely in the 12's.

I ran 18psi the 1st run in them, and 14.5 the 2nd run. I didnt know they go up 2 degrees- makes sense I never thought about that-thank you for the info snoozer, very helpful. Ive been to the track a million times, but never with slicks I feel like a newbie asking all these Q's So after I pull out of the water I rev high enough and burn it in 2nd gear-now I see what you mean by your car will bog (once the tires get warm and you get traction)

If I had some headers, and cams I have no doubt I could go 108-109.

no problem, good luck, i want to see one go 12s with boltons, trust me i worked to get my car there last race season. well and a crappy cam, 12.81 at 106.23 with some worn out 20 dollar slicks showing cords they wouldnt hook for better than a 1.78

on the new setup, my goal is 11.99 just once i just need the new gears and tires and a nice night

trust me i defend what the 350 can do elsewhere as much as I defend other cars on here I need a reference for 12s. there are some local bolton cars that trap 105-7... of course tehse guys also have nitrous so it sometimes seem they are on a tiny shot when their trap jumps down on another run.

I ran one guy who has all the boltons, exhaust intake pulley test pipes, aluminum fly wheel and some other stuff and like an 80 shot when i was in the 12.81 form.... the only 350 i have ever gotten to run me. he went 112 on the bottle i think

Good times! The ECU and the slicks made a big difference. What was the weather conditions?
