My Kills and Loses this past Friday at the Dragway!
(1st run) was against a 240sx that has the pop up head lights with a sr20det motor with 16psi. I knew I really didn't stood a chance but I gave it a hard shot. I beat him off the line pulling a 1.9 60ft and when I went into second gear I had about 1.5 car length on him. By the time I was almost at the redline in 2nd gear he caught me and pass me. He was pulling like an animal. He ran an 8.3 at 88mph and I ran a 8.9. The track we have here is a 1/8th.
(2nd run) was against a mustang cobra with a 2004 body style and ya'll probably won't believe the end result but this is the GOD honest truth. 1st time down the track against him, I pulled a 1.8 60ft and I ran a 8.7 sumthin and he never could gain the ground back. I was like what the hell but I was freaking stoke. Then he comes back around and he signals me. Then all of a sudden I see a passenger get out of his car. I was like oh boy he is serious this time. 2nd time down the track I pulled a 1.9 and I ran a 8.8 this time. He still couldn't gain the ground back again. I was like what in the world is going on. I was like I must be racing some scrubs...lol Both times I had at least 1-2 car length wins.
(3rd run) was against a modifed EVO. From the start to the finsh, he straight crush me and he kept on pulling hard. I ran like a 8.68 and I forgot what he ran but he was gone. I was like damn EVO's I can't wait to get my FI then it will be on...lol
Then I know I can't race on 1/8 it would have to be a 1/4 to stand a chance against their launch.
(4th run) was against a STI which I knew again I was going to lose, but what the hell. I'm launch at 4k trying to give it a hard shot and he pulled about 1.5 car lengths on me from the line. He couldn't pull no more ground and I couldn't gain, that's how it ended at the finish line. I was like okay I'm okay with that end result due to the fact of their four wheel drive. I was pretty consitent running all night 8.7-8.9.
(5th run) was against a Trans AM with a LS1 motor. I got him off the line and by the end of 2nd gear he pulled back. My front bumper was at his passenger door and it was pulling no more ground. Even shifting into 3rd the distance between us remain the same to the finish line. I was like really shock I held in there like that, but man you talking about he caught back up to me big time after I had a awesome launch again. Freaking LS1 motors are bad azz but man I didn't think our motors can hang that strong though.
(6th run) I ran against a 2005 mustang GT. From the line to the finish I straight up whooped this GT driver. He had an auto and I beat him by 2 car lengths.
That was all the races for the night. In some ways I was impress with the Z but in other ways I wasn't. We need more power forreal....grrrr

Wow you were pulling 1.8 and 1.9 60ft's on street tires? That is VERY impressive. Your 1/8 times should be lower though with launches like that. Try working on your shifting some. Nice job....
Thanks for the compliments! Those toyo tires really do have some grip but I'm still able to chirp the tires shifting into 3rd gear. 2nd gear is my enemy when racing because I tend to force the stick into gear instead of letting it glide itself...lol...maybe too much testorone in my veins...lmao For the guy saying it wasn't a cobra, it had the freaking emblem on the side like our Z but a cobra emblem and it also had a cobra wing. I know a cobra when I see it and I know not all cobra's have that high wing but this one in particular did.
haha ok only the cobra R's have that HIGH wing and that car stomps on the even the 03 supercharged ones so chances are it was a modded GT with a body kit. Either way im not putting down your times, those were some good runs, nice job.

i am so confused
i wasn running 8.6s at 82-3 on street tires when i trapped 103
an 03 cobra traps considerably higher 108-112 stock and should trap high 80s in the 1/8th... something doesnt jive here.
oh and an emblem costs 12 dollars... we like to call them fauxbras

i know you said you launched at 4k against the STI but what do you usually launch at to get those 60ft times? also are you as sea level? did you do anything like lower tire pressure or did you just run it like it was?

I highly doubt I would of heard a supercharger whining over my popcharger with the windows up. To answer the dude about my rpm launch, it was at 4k with feathering the clutch and I would break the tires loose a little right at 5k, but next thing I know I'm right at redline. The toyo's won't break loose that long at all even with dumping the clutch as opposed to the stock potenzas. I can pull 2.0-2.1 all day without the feathering method. You have to find what is going to work best for you.

hey Dom they were talking about Savannah Dragway on www.bigboosting.com and the mustang was a GT with all the cobra emblems on it. The guy with the 240SX is on that forum along with the EVO and STI. The board is mostly Statesboro that come to Savannah alot, know of a few of them, good crowd.

there are bolton gts running high 11s - high 14s depends on the driver and the setup
