I wont track it heres why (give input)
Ok im 18 years old and have been told that im a good driver by many of my car buddies. ages17-28. Anyways i live in maryland and at captiol raceway a g35 coupe hit the wall im guessing due to traction loss. I dont have much experience on roads as slick as the track and i lose traction bad in 2nd and sumtimes 3rd gear. Im wondering if im doing sumthing wrong or write? what should i expect when i slam 2nd on the track because on the street she tends to kick out a bit.
Is the dragstrip dangerous? That depends compared to what. The trip to and from the dragstrip is more dangerous than racing.
The staging area at the track is prepared to enhance traction. What will happen when you hit second gear? Who knows, but the lane is wide enough to make corrections. For your first couple of runs, there’s no need to break the land world speed record. Be safe, practice and do your best.

hah im down man u should come hang out with me and my buddies in the glen burnie area there a turbo z my buddy dans and a g35 my buddy garret and a couple of real fast cars just hit me up. usually on fri/sat nights either in glen burnie or northern prkwy
I wouldn't worry about putting a street tire'd car with not so much power into the wall at the dragstrip. Furthermore..the dragstrip pavement is STICKIER than the street...not slick.
You'd have to basically be a complete moron to put a stock or near stock 350Z/G35 into the wall at a drag strip.

Yeah I agree most drag strips are wide enough to make corrections if things get hairy...and if it really gets out of hand you can just back out of the power and you have more than enough room to bring it safely back underneath you. We're not talking about 8 second dragster's here.
Also, to touch on the wheelspin issue in 2nd and 3rd; a solid chirp from the tires is usually a good sign, BUT you really don't want to have too much wheelspin anyway. If you're getting the back end out going into 2nd gear, then you are loosing prescious time in the 1/4. So you should work on shifting so that you get the most out of those tires, and what better place to practice that then the track.
The bottom line is (and I'm not saying YOU in particular, just people in general) that everyone thinks they are John Force at the stoplight, but then cant figure out why they run a second over what their times 'should' be at the track; and the only answer to that is practice. Driving at the track under controlled conditions will make you a MUCH better driver, and the timing lights don't lie.

haha yea dont race your car at the track if you think your gonna hit the wall. i was at the track when that idiot in the G35 hit the wall, he had his gf in the passenger seat, and that might have been the problem right there....
anyways if you wanna run your car go this friday to capitol, ill be there in my z and you can see what kind of times you get. dont worry about safety issues, you really do have to be a moron to crash into the wall in a nearly stock Z. Hope i was encouraging enough and hope to see you there.
