c5 corvettes?
Any C5 owners who leave on TCS while racing is an idiot. These are the people who get beat by slower car and wonder why their $40+ K car lost to much cheaper or slower car. I've seen probe which run high 14s beat C5, seen stock srt4 who could only manage mid 14s beat C5, seen several C5 driver granny shift and barely get into power band and shifting to next gear, these type of C5 owners pisses me off. Learn more about your car, learn to drive your car before racing some one.
Based on what I've seen around vette owners, I do see why there is so much of negative attitude toward the vette and it's owners.

Id have to agree with you on that...
People who know cars know that a C5 mn6 coupe is capable of 12.9-13.3 at 108-110 mph in the right hands....
Unfortunetly most of the people who buy vettes arent buying it for the engine.....There getting it for the name and stature...
Buying a car that has base price of 45 grand and gets in the 50's-60 with just about any options is a big step in a lot of C5 owners lives...
There getting it as an achievement rather than what it was ment to do....
If they just wanted the engine. They would have probaly bought a camaro or GTO....
Unfortunetly these same people who buy the car just to say they have a Vette and never try to realize it's full potential on the track are the same ones who think there invincible on the street...
Guy races a neon SRT-4 in his automatic C5 with the Traction Control on and the car in D.....
Srt-4 ends up winning by a car or too....
And so the srt-4 corvette killer is born...Somebody saw this happen and went and reported it to there message board. Next thing you know it's all over the net..
Really pisses me off....
The C5 also gets overlooked do to it's big brother the Z06.....
Speaking of the Z06....Most people who buy a Z06 knew what they wanted...
It has a base price of around 5 grand more...And the roof dosent come off...
You dont just accidently buy a mn6 that cost 5 grand more than the mn6 coupe you just looked at forget that the roof dosent come off....
People who buy the Z06 are USUALLY performance oriented and bought the car for more than the name.

I am surprised when a vette will actually race me, but i am not one to pick more than pone throttle tap.
it also surprises my friend in his vette when another vette will line up.
he has BB tri flow exhaust, x pipe and intake and went 12.8 at 112 a few weeks ago
my girl's dad had an 01 zo6, but did not have it for the reasons you would think.
he did not race, just talked about it like he would. he got the car because it was the chevy flag ship car of the year and it was his 3rd vette. A millenium yellow 01, my dream car.

admittedly a 2001 yellow Z06 was my dream car as well...
I could easily go get one now.....There only 30 grand or so..
But I just cant see letting a C5 go that Ive already put 5 grand worth of mods into for another C5 that basicly looks the same and is slower just so I can say I have a Z06 Corvette instead of a corvette....
maybe one day Ill hit the lotto and have both....

yeah you can just get an frc with the z51 package and upgrade the leaf springs to z06, the z06 already uses the the z51 leafs on one end. chevy sway bars are dirt cheap through chevy too.
if you are doing heads and cam, why get a z06 anyways...
I actually am unsure whether i want an FRC or a Targa, as i like the space for carrying my dog in the trough
If i hit the lotterry i am buying my zo6 and putting an ls7 in my mustang
you cant beat dropping 200 pounds off the front of the car for balance, while making 500+ hp
the 351 swap headers line up with the ls1 holes, you have to cut the flange off and weld up the chevy flanges which are 32 dollars, it also bolts ino the 4.6 K member
This is a swap i am interested in, ls1, ls6, ls2, ls7 but i would need a nother car to drive during downtime.

No they dont. But they do know what a fairlady and corvette are.
Lots of people that have vettes have G35's as there daily driver. It is a very nice car. But you have to understand that the chick factor argument begins and ends with how much a car cost.
I personally think a vette looks a lot nicer than a maserati exterior wise. But it still cost 40 grand more than a Vette and in the end is the better chick getter than the vette simply due to this.
women like money. many of them will date a guy simply because he drives a 40,50 60 or up thousand dollar car. Not all of them are like this but there is a pretty hefty percentage.
So when I said better chick getter than yours it was simply stated from base price vrs base price. Not really my opinion of wich one looks better. Thats very subjective.
But base price isnt.
I also think a 2002 hard top Viper looks a lot better than an NSx or 360 modena ferrari. But in the end they cost more than the Viper and would win the chick factor when compared to the dodge.
