I never did understand why people have deemed a S/C more reliable then a turbo. I think its just that the out of the box Vortec, makes less power with an ultra safe tune. Using the SS box, running rediculously rich, and only making 330-340whp will be a reliable car. Thats great, but its slow.
The tune is still the most important part of any F/I kit, and I agree, that is installed correctly, a turbo car, will have better reliability.

S/C is deemed more reliable most of the time because torque is what breaks rods and other parts, and centrifugal S/C's don't add too much low end torque. They will be slower, but are not as hard on the engine. This is not just for 350z's, this is the reason centrifugal are regarded as the safest boost available on any car.

Maybe the quality problems of the single turbo kits for the Z's have left that impression?

Turbos require a lot more components than S/C to make them work = more chance of failure, plus a sh*tload of heat = more chance of failure.
