street slicks? i dont there is a such thing. Then again hypocritical me is going around town tonight on my set of Hoosier Quick time Pros. You can fit up to 27 height slicks on your car without rubbing.
Street slicks are MT E.T. streets. Its a DOT legal slick. I dont think they make those in 17's though, you may just need to run their newest drag radial Ive heard nothing but good things about them....

if you look on my car page, you can see them mounted. they are optimal on a 8.5-9" wide wheel, otherwise they are going to be taller. They pretty much were a 27" tall tire when mounted on my stock 17x8's

you do NOT want to run ET Streets as your daily driver...even though they are street legal they are NOT recommended nor truly safe for cornering or such.
The closest compromise is to get some goode DR's BF-Goodrich or the new MT's are very good. I still wouldn't run them on the street since I totalled my first Z that way -> puddle -> DR = Crash

SO, do they fit? The stock 17s are only 7.5 wide. I wouldn't mind trying the street radials out, but they wouldn't be on for daily driving. We have squeezed a 275/40 Nitto DR on the stock 17 before.
i drive to the drag stip (1 hour drive) with my mickey thompsons on. i just boost the pressure up to around 20psi to make sure the tires are stiff enough for driving. they are 26x10.5 on 16x8inch rims. got the rims on ebay for $30 total. however they were purple so i sanded those babies down and painted the inside of them black.
