I had 4 runs today: 2 practice plus 2 rounds of eliminations. My best ET was during practice.

Wow-awesome 60ft for a car without drag radials. David I am very impressed, that is great, right on par with similarly mod'd Z's AND DR's here in the area. Nice 1/8 trap and 22mph the 2nd 1/8 worth of pull, great run

Edit-btw what did you run, it had a slower 60ft but slightly quicker 1/8 time...

Very impressive 60' time, what method are you using to launch if you don't mind me asking?

I start at about 2,500 rpm. Cannot be more specific because I am looking at the Christmas Tree not the tachometer. Its kind of a two step start: first pick-up the front of the car and move weight over the rear tires. Two - hit the gas hard.

Keep in mind that this is my third racing season. It just takes practice.

Temp and humidity were very low, thats good. Whats the elevation there?

Edit - NM. I see your in Baltimore. Probably puts you close to sea level.

I almost took the invitation to come down there....good thing I didn't...13.4 would have presented a serious problem for me.....Do test pipes make a noticeble difference in the 1/4....if so I'm buying them today. Seems like everyone who does well has them.

If you were running 13.47 or 14.47 it would make little difference. This is bracket racing.

No. Just a quick chirp to toss off debris.

Very good run, does your Z (if you have a Z) have a lot of mileage now. I think as these motors loosen up or season, they begin to flow well.

so you drop it so that it catches and then hit it hard? or is it a feathering it til about 5 mph then hit it hard? Can you elaborate more on your launchin technique?

OK.

a. Feather the clutch. I can feel the tires grab, and the front of the car lift.

b. Let the clutch out and hit the gas hard at the same time.

And yes you can get 2.0 second 60-foot times on street tires.

I managed one 1.9xx 60' but that was heatin the tires up a lot and launching hard at 4k+. I was wondering if there was a different way that won't be so hard on the tranny.
All the other light feathering launches I couldn't get below 2.2/2.1 ish
I'm on 19's with 275 in the rears.
