Well, went to the drags for the first time last night. I am use to driving my awd Subaru, so this will be a learning curve for the Z.
I went to Portland Internation Raceway(PIR) which has a built in drag strip on the front stretch. Needless to say, traction sucked, and i had about 8% tread left on my stock tires. And over 300 participants meant things ran very slow.

First run: (40psi in the tires as I was setup for autox)
60'........2.231
330'......5.996
1/8.......9.048
mph......81.07
1000'....11.650
1/4.......13.867
mph......101.72
Second run: (dropped to 30psi, missed the 3-4 shift, hence lower et and trap)
60'........2.172
330'......5.932
1/8.......8.998
mph......80.77
1000'....11.620
1/4.......13.929
mph......98.31
So basically, I am not very pleased. First, I need new tires, the 60's were not going to come down much on nearly bald tires, plus I didn't play with pressures well enough. Second, I don't know the shift points on the Z, and if I should even be shifting into 4th. But hey, first time out on a crappy course, not so bad.

Ive only ridden in Revups but I think the power falls off at high rpm enough to where I would shift early. If you can shift fast you may want to see if hitting 4th at say 6600tpm's helps your times-although for 90% of people leaving it in 3rd will be the better option. Id shift at redline for 1-2 and 6800 for 2-3....try diff shift points and see how it goes, look at how much mph th ecar is picking up 2nd 1/8 mile and compare runs next time.

Cool, thanks for the pointers. IIRC, I'd be banging the rev limiter in 3rd for the last 100ft or so if I don't shift to 4th. I can shift pretty quickly. My whole problem was launching that night as there was gravel on the track from the rally cars, and then the track cars from earlier that day. Crappy drag strip I tell you!
