I launch at 5500rpm
My best at Irwindale was a 7.7 with a 1.66 60' at 92 mph
I usually got to Fontana when they have the privates otherwise you only get max 4 runs where at the private events you can get over 30
Fontana should be ready to go in June again.
I'm planing on heading out to Formosa (Bakersfield) on June 2nd since that is fairly close to sea level and last time I went there I had launching issues. Long drive and you get probably only 4 runs as well but it's a fast track

I talked to the other guys, we gonna try to make it out on Thur, prolly be there at 4, and get in our runs early.. and out early.

Dang! I guess it was packed...and classes will be letting out soon, so I would guess it to be getting pretty crowded quick.
K, so here's a Q...do you cool down after each run, or just line up and cool off in line??
Also, does Cal-Speedway have every Fri...open runs?? Schedule is a little vague, or maybe to detailed for me...lol

I usually cool down while waiting in line, leave the hood open. It all depends on how busy it is.
Cali Speedway usually only has once a month events. LACR is the only track here that does the wednesday and friday runs but it's so damn slow.
I wanna go up to Bakersfield in the next few weeks, the are reopening the track next week and it's close to sea level and very nicely prepped.
Would be cool to have a few people going, it's a long drive though.

GargoyleZ thanks for creating this thread. I actually was considering starting a thread to see if you were a member here and to ask what times and traps you ran at Irwindale? I saw your Z, very nice car! I was there too and just like you I was little dumbfounded by my E.T.s, but mainly my traps. I wouldn't sweat your times and trap speeds too much, because it really seemed like a very slow night. My previous trips to Irwindale I was hitting consistent 8.5s@82-83mph. This past thursday, I was hitting consistent 8.7s@80-81mph. Man I was like WTF, did I have a bad batch of gas or what? Until I started paying attention to what other cars were running, mainly other EVOs. I then talked to a couple of other EVO owners, one had a blue IX with just MBC, Intake, and TBE and his previous best time was 8.0@90mph, thursday his best was 8.3@84mph. Another IX with Intake and TBE had a previous best trap speed of 86mph, last night his best was 83mph. I also talked to a bolt on Camaro SS owner, he was only trapping 80-81mph. A modified GTO was only able to trap 80mph.
My point is something was amiss with Irwindale that night, I don't know what, but honestly that night at Irwindale wasn't a good time to gauge your cars power and performance. If anything use it as tool to see how your driving abilities have improved or not.

mrtomcat: Well lmk about bakersfield, when u find out...maybe we can all caravan up there...will def be there on the 15th (barring any emergencies).
3000ways: thanks for comps on the car...she's alright (((lol))) .. U gonna try be there on da 15th too??
I am def using this as a tool, picking at the minds of those that have been there done that...testing and trying new ideas/styles/skills and eventually wheel tire combo's to get the launch and the shifting down...
I seem to best the 1st time out, then it goes down hill from there...The last time we were out (18th), my best time was a:
8.86 @ 80mph 60' was like a 2.1...2nd run was a 9.3 @ 79, 60' @ 2.3, spun off the line for lil' bit...3rd run was a 1.0 light..no need to say more..((lol))
I am noticing that my shifting is a bit slow, and using the rev light on the tac I should prolly set it for a few hundred before redline??
I try to launch @ 3500, but keep rollin out b/c of the non flatness of that area at the line...when i ease into pedal i do well off the line, and get a decent ((beginner)) 60..but usually get a lil' excited and drop the clutch and punch the gas for a nice "on the line" burn out! (not really laughing..hehe).
So I am considering 17" (not sure looking @ FNO1-RC, can get a good deal on) w/some kinda drag radial...??
opinions, critiques, and all info welcome!
thanks all, Alex

Also there is Perris Speedway, I hear it is faster than Irwindale, so I'm gonna check it out on Friday, June 9th. My last hurrah racing my IX until July 15th and 16th.
