Drag Race Shift Points?
I've had no luck with my 5AT. 15.01 best time at LACR in Pamdale. I had a pop charger and that was it. I have some test pipes and 19's now and need to know what is the best RPM to launch from, and at what RPM I should shift at for each gear in order to not over rev the motor past an effective rpm level. (I've heard that going to the redline is not always most effective due to the powerband.) Anyways I love the car but am rather sad with the performance. Any feedback would be welcomed. Thanks!
i will tell you my best method with my old G sedan 5AT. i never tried to powerbrake the launch at all. i would just hold my foot on the brake and then floor it letting off the brake as soon as my foot hit the pedal. i ran 14.2s all day bone stock. not one mod done to it.
many people have better luck trying to stall it as high as possible.
i had a 04 and always left it in manu mode and could put it in third gear before i started off. this would automatically shift from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd then it would hold third till i shifted it. i would almost peg the rev limiter in 3rd and shift to 4th
i ran countless 12s with a 100 shot of nitrous on the basically stock sedan....

I have an 04 TT what I always try to do is not to spin the tires not even one bit. Shift points take it all the way to 6900 I think and shift you should do way better.
Now taking out you car since you have 19's I doubt that you get wheel spin so just power brake the car to 1800 I think it allows you too and stomp the hell out of the gas pedal. You should have a nice 0-60. BTW always try to heat up the tires just a bit so every run counts.

First of all LACR is way slow, badly prepped track and very high elevation. You won't do better there than 14.8 with your mods if at all.
Invest in some dr's
Shift 200 rpm before the limiter kicks in.....however I am confused didn't you say you have an automatic?

I have found that when draging an auto that using the tiptronic mode to shift is slower than just letting the car shift automatically. You always have the option of torque braking.
