Default Confirmed what broke at Sac Raceway last night

I made 3 runs on 18" Dr 265/40/18's @19psi. This is my 2nd season on DR's a total of about 30 runs or so. By the way my car last made 435whp 415whp 9.5psi w/ 3.3FD on a new load based dynojet. Previous dynojet read 463 and 445 with the 3.5 fd.
On my 4th run I go up and do a burnout, however my brakes couldn't keep me from moving so I tried another burnout and "boom". So I shut off the car and get towed home.
Get a call from Rob at Zcargarage and I snapped a halfshaft. he said it was a clean brake and isn't a bad brake, nonetheless L2 axles will most likely go in. I'll try to get pix tomorrow but im on a tight schedule.

Ive run as low as 15psi on a cold day, figured 19 was good with the 90 degree day. It was just a matter of time.

sorry to hear bro. All that talk about us not wanting to spend more money on the car hey?

Don't worry too much. It'll come back in a week or two better than ever. Then you can launch however you want!

Good luck with the fix.

You know why I think DSS axles are a joke, even the stage 5's use stock inner CV joints. Your only as strong as your weakest link and thats that. Ive seen stage 5's break on DR's as well, Ive decided Im just gonna stack up on stockers and it will be much cheaper. No problems for me as far as that goes knock on wood.

Whats the price of a stock axle. I know the Dss ones are 750 according to the site I saw it on. I saw the break and it was near the inner part of the axle not the side near the hub. I had no bad wheel hop, just that I tried to burnout again outside the box. It was either a combo of the wheel being sticky with the wrong part of the track or just sheer force.

use bias ply tires instead of short sidewall radials and the chance of axle failure lowers IMO

Bigger side wall less chance to snap the axels...Drag radials snap the axels faster then a pair of full blown slicks...Slicks the side walls wrinkle giving less force on the axels...Drag radials dont wrinkle giving you no play to much force then snaps what ever is the weakest point from the axels all the way up to the tranny.

I know bigbri has traction issues which are a little off for this conversation, but if stockers work for him, then Im not sure why anyone would spend $750, but then still have stock cv joints. I know your looking for reliability and all, but perhaps you should consider why you broke. Sounds like your tires were already heated up, and you went to do another burnout outside of the box that clearly wasnt necessary. Dont do that!

I love my 15" Slicks and/or DR's and the Stage II Axles....

I'm amazed it happened during a burnout though, I would expect much stress during a launch.

Hope you get it fixed soon

it could have happened during the burnout if he got some nasty wheel hop

usually the spot between the place you do the burnout and the actual line you launch at hooks the best for me, every time i am thinking, damn i hope my car launches like that at the line.

when you go through the water and heat the tires up, do the burnout and pull up, if you didnt do a good burnout, then either make your poor run or back up into the water again. just my opinion
