I see vettes around of ALL years 60's 70's 80's 90's+ they are everywhere, not sure why you think the vette is so unreliable. An NSX from 1991 will have plenty of issues if it's been driven throughout it's life as with any older used car. In fact most vettes are well cared for and in great shape due in large part because older folks own them. Take a look at your average WRX owned by a younger crowd, most of the ones my friends have are pretty banged up.

I wonder where Chevy and all other car manufacturers got the idea to use titanium rods, all aluminum suspension, and aluminum body and chassis from? the NSX is a major icon so changes were minor to keep it true to its nature, which spawns from f1 not nascar.

if they ever use a v8 or v10, rest assured that it will be in a completely different car. you just don't go throwing in a larger heavier and more powerful engine into a car and call it a day. that train of thought seems to work over here, but thats just not how they work over there. putting in a bigger heavier engine will throw the car's suspension, weight distribution, handling, braking, and gearing off... it will pretty much change the entire car. Ayrton Sena has passed away so who will re-tune the suspension?

im not hating on the Vette or anything, I'm sure there are Vette's out there that are as good as new if taken car of and not ragged out. but overall i would have to say the NSX will last longer. my buddy owns a 94' that has over 200k miles(194k last summer) with just basic maintenance on wear and tear parts and the engine still sounds and feel great, and he by no means babies it(hence he needs a paint job) and drives pretty aggressively. i must say that the attention to detail and taking the extra step is just not as much there, to me the Z is a tad bit lacking in this department too to be honest.

Have you tracked it? I heard they pretty much turn the same. Obviously the Z06 has the increase in power therefore it needs the wider tires, but both cars are awesome.

The NSX was and always will be a true sports car. It's a mid engine, 2 door, lightweight, made with precise speed and handling in mind.

The NSX-R is even better with lighter body panels and a more powerful engine and a tuned suspension.

The legacy of the NSX will never die, yes it cost a lot but it's an exotic.

For all you guys out there worrying about the engine of the NSX and how it didnt change and that was its downfall. Blah blah. The NSX was good enough as it was to force Porche, Benz and corvettes to up their game once it came out. The NSX hasnt received much revemping meanwhile the other companies were hard at work trying to out do the NSX. Here we are in 2007 talking about a car with ancient mechanical engineering technologies. That in itself would make you stop and think for a moment that maybe they did do something right.

And for those talking smack about how the engine is weak compared to the 05+ vettes and vipers well just hold on to your seats. There is a new NSX coming out and trust me it won't be attainable to those who drive porsche's, vettes and vipers. They are bringing the new NSX to the same level as the ferrari's, aston martins and buggatti's. That's their new target audience. Lets see if the release of the new NSX causes the competition in those manufacturers to up their game as what happend when the first NSX was introduced.

Actually there are tons of vettes out there with high mileage on them that run perfectly, alot of the C5 guys have 100,000 + miles on their cars and are running 150 shots at the track all day with no problems.and I have seen alot of great condition C4's with higher miles on them as well ..

they hold up alot better than people give them credit for.... and most of the owners take very good care of them, which is nice when looking for a used one

but regaurdless the NSX is a fanstastic car, especially on the track.. its too bad we will never see the R version over here.. couple of my buddies have dads who own them, and they love them

The LS1's have a tendency of drinking loads of oil. Not as reliable as the NSX motor man.

Those things that we worry about is just a little down time for a rich person. My freind blew his modified 911. And he told me, " yea just needs a new engine it will be back up in 3 weeks" like its nothing. LOL damn people with insane money. lol.

mean while if i blew a engine. I will be back on newtiburon.com

My buddy has a 91 nsx with 40k on it and my 300tt is faster. I think my 350 is also faster with my mods.

A C5 vette is not in the same class as a modded 911 or a lambo.

Well compared to the NSX motor, it's not as well built. LT1's were pretty bada$$ with the iron blocks but LS1 were better n/a.

LS2's are pretty damn nice though I must admit.

Honestly, I'm confused here. You drive a Z, the engine employs a very very very similar function to that of vtec. Continuously variable valve timing is just about the exact same thing that vtec is, yet you don't like it? It's a very efficient way to boost engine power at higher rpms and not sacrifice low rpm engine performance, it's not like they're putting a flux capacitor in or something.

I am a honda guy, getting ready to buy my Z, just trying to do some research before I take the plunge, making sure I don't under or over buy. I've gotta commend some of you guys with realizing how awesome the nsx was, but not over-doing it . It didn't change much, but it will be changing a lot in 08 or 09, whenever they decide to release the new one. V10 was the last I heard, that won't be something to mess with if it does happen.

Vtec phones suck. And im not a fan of the whole bandwagon that honda owners praising v-tec. I mean putting VVT or whatever as a sticker on my car or over exaggerating the technology is something that is preety obvious within some honda owners. I see it 10 times when i hit a local track. VVT is more displayed in the new 3.7 VQ in the G37 the current vqs dont really maximize that technology in the same way as honda engines do as efficiently.

agreed. I don't see the need to praise vtec either. The technology is awesome and is still improving, but now it's in just about every damn honda out there. There's no need for the stickers and praise that it's getting, but hell, people still see the need to put "dohc" stickers on their civics too. There's much better valve timing systems out there now, honda just happened to be pretty much the first to make it "main stream" i guess.

VVT is awesome, and I'm sure it'll keep developing as time goes on, but I don't really see a need to advertise it either. Everyone knows z's have it, just as much as everyone knows honda's have vtec..
