Default What is the best RPM to shift?

i was racing an wrx it had a programmable computer and exhaust,and i have a plenum spacer injen dual exhaust test pipes and intake, and i couldn't pas him, but he didn't gained distance either. It was a bit wet and when i shifted to 2nd my car did some tire shake, i shifted at 6500 RPM approximately. what is the best RPM to shift?

I don't think there's any one magic rpm number. It all depends on conditions at the time, such as which gear you're in, speed, road conditions, level of grip, etc. Driving isn't some black and white science. There is an art to driving well.

The standard answer is redline but you may want to go to the dragstrip and experiment. Because of traction in first and second gear I will sometimes short-shift both. There is little point in taking first gear to redline if the car is not accelerating.

my friend has a 06 wrx with intake an axhaust an i beat him from a roll all the time (inch away from 3rd gear) but from a dig i never beat him
