Just want to specify that taller overall diameter of rear wheels lower your gear ratio, not bigger wheels.

Okay so stock wheel/tire is:
225/45/18 18x8 et30
245/45/18 18x8.5 et33

new wheel/tire will be:
245/40/18 18x9.5 et20 21lbs
275/40/18 18x10.5 et20 23 lbs

kinda confused because the last two posts kind of contradict one another.. clarify please.

That's better,
but how about bigger/longer diameter & circumfererence of wheel with tire lowers your gear ratio

Okay well the overall diameter of the stock front wheels are 25.97, while the new wheels with tires would be 25.71. so it went down in diameter there.

rear stock tires are 26.68 and new wheels would be 26.66

so they went down on all four corners. am i understanding this correctly?

It's the overall diameter of the wheel and tire (of course, just one of either wouldn't make sense which is why I left out "tires" in my above post) in the rear that affects your gear ratio. There was no contradiction. I was simply clarifying his "bigger wheels" as that wasn't specific enough.

Going up or down by small increments will have no appreciable effects. Once the 2 ends start to diverge away ~3% or more (ex. fronts bigger with rear smaller or vice versa) is when you start having problems with VDC and ABS. If you change both ends by equal or similar (still within 3%) amounts, then you won't have any problem and only the gear ratio is affected.

Logically speaking, differences in the tenths and hundredths of an inch in the overall rear diameter with regards to gear ratio is going to be negligible in real life. Think about it: that's like comparing new tires vs old tires.

Haha I hope ill be visiting your times soon. By then youll be farther ahead so no worries. I think I could run 12.7 the way it sits now hopefully better eventually by cutting better than a 1.9 60'. I would like a tune but have a hard time trusting tuners around my area :/

Thank you but low 12's is not possible right now.

The car was totaled/flooded & it still has the original tune from 2009. I did 12.7's at the Niss./Inf. meet on a sunny but not ideal weather conditions. On a cool real good weather day, I could have done 12.6's, 12.5? maybe. I recently went to 4:08 gears & a slight adjustment to my stock suspension. I'm hoping to do 1.60's 60 foot & breaking 12.5. I think 12.4's would make me very happy. Anything better I would need some h.P. producing mods Does the saying "can't squeeze water out of a rock" fit here?

How many runs do you get at TNT? Granted I have a auto I can pull 1.9-2.0 60ft on my 255/40/18 on rays V1 consistently.

Log your runs with different changes ie shift points, launch rpm, tire pressure to compare what is best for your setup. Which tanabe springs do you have DF or GF?

Sorry Test N Tune. Your problem is your springs which are made for grip they are too stiff.

They preventing your car from squating when you launch. Also lower your tire PSI to 30 and work your way down no lower than 25.

Drive around the water box and do quick 3-5 sec burnout up to the line. No need for a john force burnout on street tires it makes them greasy.

What track do you go and what days is it open? I have to work in hickory next week and I may drive my G and stop in Burlington on my way back.

Oh yeah it was empty. Probably got about twenty runs in from 12pm to 4pm, which included me taking a break for food, stopping in between runs, and one car leaking fluid up and down the track that needed to be cleaned up.

Can't make it the 17th. I'm gonna try and go in December before it closes though.

You don't know? I posted so many times, I thought everybody on earth knew
I live on a river. Last storm Irene, and a mismanaged resovior destroyed my car. Flooded/totaled then went to an insurance auction. The car treated me so well, you know, hugs, kisses, breakfast in bed. I had to get it back, so I bought it before the auction, then took a long time to rewire it. My second time at the track, was the Inf./Niss. shootout at Atco. Of course I won it Well my class Thanks for caring

I got in 14 runs between 9 and 1030 on friday night after changing my mind for going to capitol. My friends only got in 2 runs from 6-1030.

The fastest I got the car was 13.4@106 friday found out Sat I had a fouled spark plug in cyl 2.

Changing all spark plugs after this storm passes car should be faster hopefully after the spark plug change. Funny thing is the car never showed a CEL just hesitated after launch then takes off. I found out through cipher that I had codes.

Come out friday night if you can.
