I'm glad you're into drag racing & learning/asking is the right thing to do. It took me 8 months to learn how to use slicks. I'm sorry for being a wise guy sometimes. Good luck & have fun...

Finally went to Cecil today. I had a good time, didn't see ANY other imports though. Me vs. a whole bunch of Domestics running 10s and lower. I did beat my best time though.

60' ---------------- 2.002
330 ---------------- 5.607
1/8 ---------------- 8.568
MPH --------------- 83.6
1000 -------------- 11.113
1/4 --------------- 13.254
MPH --------------- 105.5

As always, I think there is a little more in this setup. Mostly because that wasn't my best 60'. Today I was all over 1.9x 60' with the lowest being 1.93. One day it'll all come together.

As for specs, 2008 base, intake, hfc's, 4.083, and LSD on street tires.

Default Drag season is almost over in the North East so

I just replaced my 3:90 gears with 4:08's. I have 100% stock suspension but I did some minor adjustments/change that may help me get 1.60's 60 foot times. As soon as this rainy/humid weather clear, I'll be going to Atco & or Raceway Park to try and break my 12.504 record time. Company is welcome as well as witnesses to my car being mostly stock

Nice!! I take it cecil was empty. I went the night before only 4 cars running when I got there at 9. Got tired of waiting at capitol.

We are planning a track day there on nov 17th TNT come on out if you can.

I got a great deal on the 4:08's. It was a 370z pumpkin with 4:08 gears already intalled. It was a simple swap. Sorry but I'm keeping the 3:90 pumpkin.

You have an auto? Would different gear ratio help? Got to make sure the new ratio doesn't requer another shift.

I was just asking I have 3.7 in mine from a 08 g35 sedan. Can you tell a difference from the 3.9 to 4.08?

As small as that change seems, I definitely feel the difference. The rpm go up faster & the drop after shifting is smaller. That will keep me in the RPM sweet spot longer. In my case, I was going through the finish line 500 rpm short of my shifting points, so I won't have a problem staying in the same gear(4th) with the 4:08's. These gears willl give me a tenth or more.

As long as you feel that 3:90's won't make it necessary to shift into the next gear, those gears would help you for sure. Buying a whole set up will make it cheaper & much, much easier to do.

Tires? sizes? Wheels? sizes? HOW do you launch? Do you have traction control on or off. With oem vlsd installed on a base, I'm not sure if you can control that. Does it stays on or off? I would assume off. When you launch, does it feel like car wants to stall out, slow down?

Imagine if I went on a sport forum & said I'm lousy at basketball can you help me. Would I get a response? help? taken seriously?

In the 1/8 mile, the launch is the most important part. Your BEST time sucks & you make NO EFFORT to find out why. Just quit drag racing. It's abviously not something you are really into.

Lol base models do not have traction control, stock wheels and stock tire sizes. and if it weren't something i wanted to learn about, why would i come and ask a question like so?

and the basketball comment isn't even comparable. it'd be different if you asked "what can i do to improve my shot?"

Ok, without me studing all your suspension changes, I can say that they probably are for a tighter ride, better handling car. That kind of suspension hurt your launches/your 60' times. Tight suspension keeps the rear from squatting down & the front from rising, so your weight transfer is none existant. The only thing you can do short of changing suspension is different rear tires, something that works like slicks that have soft sidewall with low tire pressure that give & absorb some of the sudden acceleration. As you stand today, you best times would come from launching at slightly above idle. Not above 2,000 rpm & still release the clutch slowly/some slip.

I see you have an HR. In the 1/4 mile an HR is much more capable of showing its fine qualities than in the 1/8. 2&1/2 hour drive is normal, plus an 1/8 of a mile doesn't get much attention. Without more major changes like wheels/tires as a start, there is nothing else I can offer.

I need to go to the track this thursday, temp has finally cooled down a lot here in Tampa. im confident ill break my 12.9 time, installing stock rear suspension if I get to go. Car is going into the body shop for a whole repaint so hopefuly I get to run it before then, if not then ill have to wait until late november

thanks, thats a decent response. soon i'll have some slightly lighter wheels with 245/275mm tires. so some more traction hopefully. a buddy of mine told me a differential brace might help out some. idk. but i'd rather not drive 2 1/2 hours just for test n tune. if they were to have a semi-big event then yeah, but this 10 minute drive to the 1/8th track will have to do for the time being.

Test n tune 10 minutes from your house is a great idea. Just want to add that bigger wheels lower your gear ratio & low profile tires ruin traction/60' times.

Good luck
