What is the highest trap for you current set-up (out of curiosity)? Seems like you have it really dialed in though (in terms of being a consistent bracket set-up).

Thanks, that is what I'm trying to do.
104.28 is the highest so far. (ET 12.933 ). It will never be high.

It does seem a bit odd with your power, but if you are happy that is all that matters.

What does your power curve look like? I've seen something like this before with a local SC'd Z. He ran a 13 flat at 100.00 mph. Maybe your power curve is dropping like dead flies at the top of each gear.

its great to be consistent and all and ur times are very respectable for what it is and especially for the trap speeds, just seems odd...it seems like u should at least be 107-108 but idk def. different from others

I'm happy.
There are guys I race that are a second slower than me that have higher trap speeds.

Like me....LOL. Best for me thus far is 13.48 @104.XX (can't remember exactly), but I was only at ~270whp. I would kill for your et (literally ).

I don't think so, but you tell me. Here is the dyno results. Sorry I didn't scan it in color.

If I don't hit 12.5 with street tires I will kill myself.

I knew supercharged cars didn't drop in power in the high revs, but I wasn't sure if that was the case with you. Perhaps your lack of low and mid range power and torque is what's causing this. It seems from the graph that your car was tuned for peak power, not overall powerband (maybe a characteristic of superchargers?).

Plus, since your car is 5AT, it has the 3.3 FD. That means that you're probably only using 3 gears the whole way down? For such little power being made in the low to mid range, those gears seem long, especially in 3rd gear. You're only making significant power increase around 6K and up. Maybe you should look into 3.5 FD from the 6M/Ts.

Another thing is that you're launching relatively low at 2500 rpm, so getting some upgraded torque converters for more aggressive launches would definitely help.

Also, I'm not sure what the numbers are supposed to be like with superchargers, but that seems pretty low all around. Have you considered using a small shot of nitrous (like 25-50) for the mid range?

The only thing I'm going to do to the car is get it retuned. I don't need nitrous. The tranny shifting was never right until a couple weeks ago when ZCG put in a GTM VB. the Stillen was a POS. This is a DD, I don't want to be working on it all the time.

My personal opinion is that it is the gearing combination. I am running 3.55 gears. I think that and the way I drive it accounts for the low traps....simple as that.
Davidv?? you have seen this before. I know you have.

So you have shorter gears already. Weird. I don't know what other thing it could be then.

I've only seen something like this once (on a Z anyway). I couldn't explain it then, and I guess I still can't figure out why now.

Well, at least for your trap speed, your ET is awesome. That's something to be happy about.

Sorry. I slipped in the post about the 3.5 gears before you posted. If I launched at a higher rpm I would have to put on my DR's, and I will just to get a bragging time, but I want 12.5 on big *** 19" heavy street tires first.
This is a really crappy vid, but this is how I launch.

I am well into fourth going into the traps. If I can find it, I will post a time slip that will really have you scratching your head. It is a incredibly low ET with an incredibly low trap.
In the vid you can hear that I'm not in first or second for very long.

Ooh, Walt, you just made a big no-no for drag racing. NEVER drive through the water box when you have street tires on. You should not only go around for your own traction, but for others who are using slicks so they don't slip on the water you dragged through the 1/4. You should go around the water box, then back up into it. Spin the wheels for a split second, get out of the box, and then try to warm up your tires a little bit. I know you're doing well with launching, but street tires shouldn't see much water when drag racing for any reason other than clean the debris off.

And as far as you spending little time in 1st and 2nd, it should be the same as the 6M/Ts. It seems you're good to go there. So, I'm definitely stumped.

Running 12.5 on street tires with wheel diameter of 19" will be very hard (well, at least your trap would indicate that, but we all know your car's just different). I tried to run a 12 sec pass N/A with only 4 mods and slicks a while back, but I only got down to 13.2. Since then, I've added more N/A mods, but weather never seemed to cooperate. I finally got tired and decided to spray. I hope you don't give up on your goal like I did.

If you do decide to run on stickier tires like DRs or slicks, make sure you launch higher than 2500. I'm going to guess you'll bog regardless, though.

BTW, work on your R/T and with your consistency and your knowledge on dialing in, you'll do extremely well (better than now). Which light - sportsman or pro tree - do you usually run?

<----also going for the uber elusive NA 12 sec pass. The weather has been Fail all spring so far here in MD. Also some tracks make it impossible to avoid the waterbox.
