You guys in the eastern states have it easier, though, with tracks and weather. Also, I was trying to do it with least amount of mods as possible (I dyno'd just barely above 250 whp N/A also). I think it could've been done with the 4 mods I had (intake, spacer, mrev2, test pipes) plus a free flowing exhaust (anything other than stock), given the right condition, even in TX.

I might try to go for it again (doubtful since drag racing on spray is more fun) when our new track opens up, but I think the elevation is higher and it'll probably be just as bad in terms of weather. I'm just hoping that the track prep is better so I can cut some 1.7/1.8s N/A and 1.6s on juice.

It just hasn't stopped raining in about a month. It is eating up the days before it gets too hot to really seek out records. My car makes the power to go 12's, but I am still running on stock clutch, etc and on street tires. Once I go to 3.9 FD, new clutch/flywheel, and more seat time I am confident I will get there.

With your given conditions on everything, 12s should be easy. BTW, the stock clutch can take the abuse, just not for long.

I know about the water box. I have tried all the conventional tire prep and this works a whole lot better for me. I have hundreds of passes with this car. The film is not a good example of my typical burnout. I DO stand in the waterbox. When I see smoke in my rear mirror I brake stand the tires to the starting line. The guys I race with are very serious Summmit ET participants, so trust me if I was leaving water they would not be bashful about telling me. Most people would die for my 60' times and they will be getting better, so I'm not changing anything unless someone at the track complains. They are very aware of what I do. I have only 5 runs with this setup.

I have been drag racing on and off for over 50 years,so I have the track etiquette down.

We are using sportsman lights. I prefer the pro lights.

Well, if it works for ya then keep it up. At my track, people get a lot of crap for going through the waterbox from the track officials and especially from the other racers.

They probably know you keep your pimp hand strong, so they're afraid to say anything.

I just want to see what you can do with proper drag tires.

I always went through the box and did a light spin (enough to sling water and rocks off) after. I never pulled water to the line, and always saw great 60' times. Only once (out of many many passes) did I ever see them pick the mop up after my car ran, and nothing was said to me.

Davidv?? you have seen this before. I know you have.
Been following your posts and am scratching my head. Your car is picking up only 18.8 MPH in the second 660 feet.

What RPM do you cross the finish line?

It does seem odd being as how my NA car picks up 23-24mph on avg in the second 1/8th.

At Infineon they will not even let you back into the water. You go around or through. That is their rule. It is different at different tracks. Most let you back in.
I try to have a fine chick available to help console me after I screw up.

I won some drag radials in a drag series, so I will be putting them on before too long to go for the best run I can sweeze out.

Beats the hell out of me. I'll pay attention next time out.I would guess I crossed the line somewhere under 5k. These are the first runs, so I'm still working with launch, tire pressure, shift points etc. As I do more runs I will notice more things.

That's what I am thinking. You are considerably under redline, and not reaching maximum acceleration through the trap.

I ran a 12.5 on street tires with a 2.2 60ft, but then again I'm trapping 116mph. I'm sure on a cool day and a 1.8 60ft you'll get close to 12.5...good luck Walt

Thanks!

here are two runs when all I had was a JWT CAI and Borla exhaust. Only once did I go over 100mph with that setup. #88

And....the lone run. check out the trap on that #22. It is hard to see, but it is 97.75mph.

BTW: I watch the people I'm going to race and if they don't have good reaction times, I don't cut it close in that area, cuz I know I'll be very close to my dial. The Z with it's fly by wire is really sensitive to pedal input and I hate fouling more than anything else.
Since I know I'm going to nail my dial, it gives me some latitude on the R/T.....against most people. I race against some really good drag racers and then I have to cut it close and take my chances. At Infineon the best racers are 45yo+ for some reason. The exception is young chicks. They usually have really good R/t's for some reason. It must be all that hate generated by PMS.

I like the fact that you actually bracket race and are good at it.

I started drag racing when they used a checkered flag...really! They would point the flag at each driver and if you nodded the flag was dropped. Then they went to a stoplight with just red and green and finally the tree. In the early days everyone took off early, because there was no way to prove you did unless it was blatant.

Young guys will ask me if I take off on the last yellow light and I say "hell no I take off on the first yellow light cuz I'm old and my reactions are shot".
not really, they are pretty darn good. I will fowl if I take off when the last yellow light first comes on. I have to take off between the last yellow and the green. I have to stay in practice though or I lose it.

LOL. Same as Cecil County Dragway, MD. Semi-pros with 30 years racing experience. Trophy Class is a no money class but still the competition is tough.

thanks man..yeah i only got 3 runs for the night, and this was the first time out with the car with the vortech on and the et streets on, so i really had no idea what psi to run in the tires and where to launch..i started at 20psi and launched at like 4000 rpm first run and ran a 1.865 60ft. and 12.382@115.16, then next run dropped some pressure launched little higher and pulled a 1.709 and ran 12.107 @ 114.87, then 3rd and final run of the night pulled the 1.6 and 12.0@115 that i posted up..everytime i ran i got better, just need some more seat-time, id like to break 11's the way the car sits before doing the injectors and 2.87 pulley and all..that would be a nice accomplishment to do this on just a complete vortech kit with the 3.12 pulley on and still stock injectors and everything.. i never launched higher than 5k and ended up running 16psi in the tires but to break 11's im thinking its gotta be a real hard lauch but i just didn't wanna break an axle or anything
