Thank you.

There are too many other guys out there who are getting 2.2-2.3 on average.
At my track you aren't getting sub 2.0 on stock street tires in a Z. Even Vettes struggle to get under that.

The 07 is faster than the 03 no doubt, but in the 60' department it's the same. You look at the dynos and the hr is very similar to a de in the low rpms, which you are using when launching. That, and the DE cars are lighter, which would only help them launch better.

Track prep needs to be optimal to get sub 2.0 on a street tire, and of course the driver needs to be really good too.

Veetec, I'll be tracking your progress of course, would love to see you run faster. I just don't think it's probable, especially now that the weather is going to get warmer.

i pull 1.8s on a lowered crap mustang susp. the tires are as narrow or narrower than a z's and are cheap as hell and have lasted forever. its all about the feel and threshold. once you figure it out, sub 2.0s are easy on pretty much any track and in any moderate power level rwd vehicle. people say orlando speedworld is the worst out there, but i pulled mid 1.8s with ease on many occasions.

well the other guy mentioned his cobra, so i figured he was talking about street tires in general, but i competely see your point

and the guy with the mustang, mustangs have a solid rear axle, making launching easier than on the irs of the 350z, not saying a kid could do it, but it is considerably easier

well they just be ****ty drivers.

solid axle: drag racing suspension, no wheel hop
irs: road racing suspension, wheel hop out the ***

not saying u can't drive, u obviously can drive, pulling a 1.8 on street tires isn't easy even on a solid axle, but it easier than with an irs

That and a Mustang makes more power and torque under the curve. A 350Z has a smaller powerband and makes peak torque at a higher RPM. Basically, not enough revs = bog; too much revs = spin.

In addition, a solid rear axle is not always an advantage, especially in a Mustang. A heavy V8 up front, and not enough weight over the rear tires. I think a 350Z definitely has the advantage in the weight transfer department.

The VQ motor is no prom queen. She is fairly heavy. More than an LS1, not sure about compared to the Mustang motor though.

Actually I thought a VQ weighed about 280lbs bare. Jeremey had weighed one a while back and found that it was around the same weight as a VG30. I thought that was pretty impressive!

Will see if i can find the weight for a longblock..

Total weight for LS1 is 497/457 MT/AT. That is for a completely dressed motor. The LS1 block by itself is 107 lbs.

LS1s are lighter than the 2 valve gt motors, and they're way lighter than the DOHC 4V motors.

Your right though, the 350Z has nearly the same weight distrubution as a stang. The VQ motor is heavier than I thought.

Wow, VeeTec, I have experienced the same clutch issue. Once, when lauching and reving prob a little too much (she revs soooo easy) my clutch pedal got stuck on the floor, then popped back up after I let off the gas. I was like where did my pedal go. LOL I wonder if this will be a recall or what is going on...

Well I plan on going to the track on Friday. I dont have a lot of experience in a 6MT yet and just broke her in so I'm getting used to the car, but we'll see how I can do.

Yeah, I am pretty sure this is a design flaw on the 07, as several other 07 owners have had the same thing happen.

I feel this happen more than once when going into 2nd gear only. This clutch is weak sauce compared to my 04. Its easy to drive but it feels all squishy. I feel like my shifts aren't as fast as they used to be also... strange

I feel like the shifts arent fast enough either. The clutch sticking worries me, I dont want that happening at the track. How do we get this to Nissan...so they can fix these clutches? Other than that I love the car. Would you guys recommend power shifting my 07 tomorrow at the track??

Think a short throw shifter will help improve times? It feels like a long throw from 1st to 2nd to 3rd...

If its your first time out then no. I would focus on your launch and smoothness of your shifting. If its not your first time then yea if you want to go ahead.

Great focus with that insane noise-maker next to you...that has to take some getting used to. Been to the track a few times and that **** always breaks my concentration.

The shifting feels fine to me, other than the clutch.
