Default analyze my time for my 07 z

all constructive critisizm is welcome

don't know what the da was, temp was right around 59* on both runs, humidity was around 77%. track elevation is 150ft according to pacificraceways.com (the track i went to) did a burn out before both runs, tire pressure was at 25 psi,

the 13.9 run i bogged (wasn't expecthing this much grip) no wheel spin at all, power shifted 3-4

the 13.7 run had some wheel hopping wheel spin off the line, but not much, power shifted 2-3, 3-4

didn't have any clutch sticking issues and no clutch slipping issues (that i could detect) either

i'm car #720
car #713 is a late model mustang gt with a saleen supercharger

we switched lane on the 2 runs, i ran against the same car both times, i only picked up 2 miles on the second run, and picked up about .01 on the 60ft, i know i need to lower my 60ft, any suggestions on how to do that other than practice

my car is a bone stock to the tires, and i didn't do a huge burn out, just a quick one to clean the tires

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....=track+results

how did i get a better 60ft than him, but a worse et? and he has a solid 1.5 miles on my trap to

The difference in the 2 runs is not all that different then. It does show that your shifting was a little better in the second run.

Just making sure you are not overheating your tires seeing as how they are stock.

I guess checking the DA for the track may have been a little more helpful, because honestly, this is one of the slower 07's that have posted. Some have hit as high as 105mph. Its not like you are really that far off, but I was getting used to seeing VeeTec's time of 13.4 and all.

i know its one of the slower times, thats my concern

but i'm not really concerned with veetec's time, he's a much better driver than me pulling 1.9's and all, and he's driving a base, so his car is supposed to be 200 lb lighter

i'm concerned with jdifolco's time. his 60ft is worse (not claiming i'm a better driver or anything) yet et and trap is better. and not to brag or anything, my shifting is pretty good, unless if jdifolco power shifts every gear (i'll try that next time i go out)

also where did u see a 105 trap on a bone stock 07? the best i've seen was jdfolco's at 104.68

also, where can i look up the DA for my track?

There are way to many things to say jdfolco's run is just like yours. What track was he on and what alt was he at compaired to you? How offten do you or he drag race? did you speed shift or did he? Race gas eveyone ? these are thing that we do not know. So just take some more time at the track and see if after some pratice you don't improve you time then you look at the car as the problem.

Conditions vary.

My modified 04 Z trapped 103+ on some days and 105+ on others, due to conditions, and even the gas I was using, as the motor will KR.

My 07 trapped at 104 with the clutch complaining, and I'm sure it will trap closer to 105+ when I can launch it harder, and not worry about any slippage on the top end. We'll see when the new clutch goes in.

BTW, I shifted at 7,500 for best results, in case that is a factor, going into 4th in the last 100 feet.

Just go back and try again, and work on that launch. Slipping the clutch quickly works best for our cars.

dew point was 50.0*
temp was 62.1*

is baro the sealevel pressure? if so than baro was 29.81 in

date and time was april 7th about 4:50 pm for the 13.7 run (the one i'm more concerned with)

veetec, did u take anything out of your car when u ran such as spare, jack, tools, anything else? did u put in 100 octane or anything?

i ran just the way i drive my car on the street, didn't take anything out, pump gas (92 octane in case anybody is wondering)

also, do u do a burn out? do u lower the rear tire pressure?

DA was 470... Not horrible..although much better conditions than I have ever raced in. It does however explain why you havent seen anything near what Veetec has seen... he is a better driver (better 60fts for example) and so far he has seen better conditions when he raced. Just bringing down your 60ft could get you a 13.5 ~ 13.6 which is impressive.

time for the noob question, what exactly is DA (other than density altitude)? how much does it affect performance? the lower the better, right?

I didnt power shift any gears. I had great weather that night. Babied it off the line with normal PSI in tires completely stock format. Its ok you probably are a better driver than me I went back last week and cut 13.7's all night with 103 traps with consistent 2.1-2.2 60's. So I think these are the numbers we will be seeing for avg drivers in 07s with better drivers doing 13.2-13.5 but what do i know!

I didn't take anything out, and ran the stock tire pressure, which honestly, I didn't even check. I had QT 93 gas on my first outing and BP 93 on my second, which it seemed to do a little better with. Basically I drove it to the track and ran it as is.

I did two small burn outs, to heat up both tires, as I have an open differential, and have to do to get both tires to spin.

When you get higher DA (like 1200ft +) it starts to lob time off pretty bad.

For example normally I see DA around 700ft but during the typical racing months I end up in the 2500~3500DA ranges. This screws with my times pretty bad (I've seen half a second differences)... When you get Negative DA you can pretty much expect to see unbelievable times (as with Veetec's times).. they are real times but ran in the best conditions you could get which makes them seem to be BS numbers. If you were to convert the DA back to normal sea level then they would actually line right up with someone who ran a much slower time at higher elevation.

Lower your tire pressure in 5psi increments. My first run ever had alot of wheel hop. lowered the pressure until about 25psi and launched much better
