Default First time at the dragstrip

Well, I was running 13.9-14.0 solid all night. My best time was a 13.86 @ 99mph. I could not get very good traction throughout first and spun a little into 2nd and then chirped shifting into 3rd which I hadnt done before. All in all im pretty happy with the way the car ran tonight, being 100% stock but feel that with some practice and some much better R/T's I could drop it a couple of tenths. Any suggestions would be great, its a '03 track like I said stock and I kept the psi at 35 all around. Heres the timeslip.

It is interesting, seeing as how his first 1/8th is pretty good. Perhaps he just has a slow 3-4 shift or something.

Any ideas yourself gripfordough?

No I cant find anything, my shifts are the same throughout the gears. It just seems to die out mid-way through third and then into fourth. I jumped out ahead of a charger SRT-8 but then at the top end of third he started to catch up and then passed when I shifted into 4th and beat me by the 2 tenths I think he pulled a 13.8 and I ran a 14.0 that run. Im going to go again next weekend and see if I cant improve my R/T because its kind of embarassing.

Practice will help with your times but reaction times have nothing to do with better times.Drop the tire pressure to 26-28psi in the rear tires and keep the fronts as they are.

Lowering your R/T wont drop your time, thats the biggest misconception with people that are new to the game. Nice driving, good time for a stock Z.

Im new to drag racing like I said before. I had thought that when the light turned green the time started. So how does your R/T not play a part in your 1/4 time ? Im going down to Myrtle beach this weekend and check out the drifting down there but in a couple weeks im gonna get back to the strip either in my Z or in the 7 im not sure yet.
