So I went to the track tonight armed with Veetec's launching strategy, some experience from an open diff bimmer, and a tire pressure gage. Dropped to 26 psi in the rear, ~1/4 tank of gas, completely stock bumper to bumper (I have an amp, but that hurts so...).
Ambient was 87 when I got to the track at 8:00, 74 when I left at 10:30, and about 80 when I made my best run.
I tried loading the car against the e-brake, and just dropping the ebrake to launch (5000 RPM load). Completely toasted the clutch, dropped to the floor and with TCS on (doh) ran a 14.017 @ 101 with a 2.167 60' time.
Second run I got the stickier (better prepped) side of the track. Slipped the clutch from 5,000 for a 2.050 60', which felt slow, the car had more in it - finished with a 13.693 shifting at 6700-6800 RPM's going into second (another doh). Trap here was 102.72 and the clutch slipped through first and second some as well (07 clutch sucks
).
Third run I tried to get more out of the tires, spun and shut down for the rest of the run. A bike laid down after this and so I just went home because the track wasn't going to get opened again for a while.
Basically- I could have gotten a 13.5 on the night had I shifted in the right spots and pulled a better 60' (I know I can, its just practicing). For my first night out in the car I'm very pleased, and once this clutch stuff gets resolved I look forward to low 13's in high temps like we have here.
Sometime interesting to me was the crowd trying to convince me not to launch at such a high RPM because it was just doing harm and I wasn't benefiting from it, yet no one else had below a 2.10 60' time and I've had the car a month

2.050 60' is awesome. I would love to drop my 60' down to that. Im just not too sure if I want to be slipping my clutch out that high though. I may have to give it a try though. You should definitely have consistent mid 13's in your future with practice. Good luck out next time!

Best stock I saw from an 06 was Carlos067 who ran basically a 14 flat.
I know I can drive the car to a 13.5 easily and in the temps we get here thats more than good enough for me during the summer months, but I just haven't had the practice to feel it out.
And I'm scanning the slip now to post in the other thread.
As far as clutch abuse. I justify it in a few ways, 07's have issues so I may get another clutch free, a clutch is <1k so even if mine goes in 50k, its about the same as brakes or tires, and most people are very willing to abuse the crap out of those, and if I'm going to go to the track to see what the car can do, why pansy out on the launch and cost myself in the 1/8th because I bogged the motor some.

I dont think your clutch is going to last to 50k with repeated clutch slips like that though. If it does, your one lucky guy. Sounds like your really slipping the crap out of it though!

5K RPM's seems way too high.
Also, im assuming your track is a really good one. Because over here in SoCal, we praise stock Z's (and even G's) that get into the 13's.... because it never happens![FAWK!](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/32.gif)
(I don't even want to bring LACR into the conversation; we admire G/Z drivers that get below 15
. Worst track ever).
Good runs!

I'm not worried about clutch life too much. If its gone in 30k its gone in 30k, 4 tires cost more than a clutch, and I didn't drop 30k on a sports car to not use it in fear of maintenance costs.
