I finally got the chance to head out to moroso and try to get a few runs on my slicks. It seemed to be a beautiful day to race, temp was at around 70-80 and it was nice a windy and just a few clouds in the sky. I arrived at around 6:30pm and began to put on the slicks. I put the psi at 15 and head to tech area to get preped. Now this being my first time ever on slicks I wanted to take it easy the first run and work my way up on the launching, so I started my first run by lauching at 3k. The result being:
R/T: .259
60FT:2.020
330: 5.832
1/8: 8.979
MPH: 79.41
1000: 11.649
1/4: 13.898
MPH: 101.04
Now this being a weak a$$ run since im on slicks i figured it was do to the weak 3k launch. I've done these numbers on my 19's for god sake
. So i decided to jump it up a notch and launch at 5k. The result being:
R/T: .340
60FT: 1.977
330: 5.737
1/8: 8.846
MPH: 80.24
1000: 11.486
1/4: 13.714
MPH: 101.82
OK, at this point i thought i had a great run until i got the timeslip. I just couldnt figure it out, wtf had happened that i didnt get a lower time? Yeah the 60ft was good but the e/t only dropped a notch and the mph stayed the same
. Now i want you guys to know that i wasnt power shifting cause i really cant afford to blow my tranny, but i was shifting pretty dam fast imo. Maybe these slicks are to much for my set up? So i was so enraged in my own furry, i decided i was going to launch at 6k and take the car to hell with me, then god said no chris i dont want to see you go into a wall or something so he made it rain like hell for 3hrs straight and i had to change my slicks in the pooring rain and to add on top of that i stripped a stud and had to break the stud to get the lug nut off
. I think im going to dump the z in a lake and call it a day......

Bad air. The 350Z is picking up 21.6 MPH in the last 660 feet. You can perfect your technique with slicks, and do some great shifting, but you cannot overcome bad air.
BTW post that 13.71 second time slip here: https://my350z.com/forum/drag/233840-top-25-1-4-mile-times-for-tt-st-supercharger-nitrous-bolt-ons-stock.html

I went to Moroso last wensday and ran against a 350 with slicks and his times were:
60' 1.97
1/8 8.69 @81.23
1/4 13.52 @ 102.78
(just so you can compare your times with his) BTW don't know his mods it was a gray with black top.

If Im not mistake, you posted up the pix of your new drag radials last week or so, and they were pretty large. Im not sure if this setup is all that ideal for the power your making and perhaps this could also contribute to your times.
I would say the same thing as Davidv as well. Only picking up 21mph in the last 1/8th isnt bad, but not going to gain you much. For some reason, your car was down a power a bit. I would agree that the DA probably wasnt that great. Hopefully you will have better times next time out.
Also with shifting, Im not entirely convinced that full throttle shifting in entirely necessary. I think the only time its truely noticeable is the 1-2 shift. For the 2-3 shift and the 3-4 shift, the cars momentum is greater and will not be as noticeable. The 1-2 shift though, the cars momentum will be noticed will a slower shift.

yo man, you need to launch way way higher.
i launch around 6000 to 7000 all the time. nitrous. turbo , motor all of it.
heat them up good and launch like you are trying to break it...

.HDPD350Z, I did catch massive traffic on the way there. When i popped my hood at moroso and touched the intake it was steaming hot aswell as the filter, the plenum was boiling hot
Not bad Tany... Just redline the facker out the box... Also I think 15psi could have been killing your top end... Next time try 20 psi first and work your way down 1 psi at a time...
