I had the same issue, short shift but I had to shift carefully and gently. Fast shifts meant missed gears.

I've had mine for 12K miles... No tranny issues under a lot of drag racing conditions...

On the drag strip I believe its a huge advantage because it gets in gear so quick. Watch the vid in my sig and listen how fast I engage the gears.

This shifter feels no different than the numerous ones I had when driving Honda's... They all felt stiff at first!

The only problem I have with it is the rattle sound it make under WOT!

Once again, I've had about 100+ passes at the drag strip over the past few years with this short shifter and I've had no tranny issues and I still have the original OEM clutch too!

Alot of the short shifters I have seen are like this. I never cared for them.
Honestly, a short shifter in my eyes just makes up for lack of shifting skill.
Chances are you do NOT shift any faster or better with it. . . as your post apparently shows.
Ditch it!

well i have the B&M on my z since 1 year, had no problems with it, at least for now...
but sometimes when i shift to 5th gear under WOT i hear a sound, i actually need to replace the syncro.
the question is, is this sound caused by the short shifter ? :/ :/
