Even with a bad 60' like that, you should at least be trapping much higher. I think there is something wrong mechanically??

+1

Even though both tracks are poorly prepped I have been able to trap @ 100 when I run (I have a 5AT BTW).

As someone said burnouts are pointless on street tires. You need to get your 60ft times down.

Ok, I jumped to conclusions when I suggested mechanical problems, my bad.

But to consider that a normal trap? Why would that be normal at that part of AZ at this time of the year? I think the temps are around 60-65 degrees in Pheonix. That's close to the temperature I ran in when I trapped 101-103mph.

Temperature is not the only factor to consider though. There is also humidity, elevation, etc.

For example, on a very good day for racing in Vegas, a good trap for a stock Z would be 95-96mph.

It all boils down to the particular track and DA conditions for that particular day.

+1 on the 60' time. Work on your launch, try different tire pressures. Good luck.

60ft is killing you man. Just spin the dirt off the tires. Hold the car about 2500rpms. Slip it till the car gets moving and then wot. On the stock potenzas i've cut 1.9's and on some harder tire i've cut some 1.8's. Everything at the track is settled in the first 60ft. Also i run 30psi.

Once you're at the line, forget about your reaction times, and just work on the launch...I use the ebrake to hold the car steady, then get the clutch pedal to be just at the engagement point w/ around 3K rpms - from there, it's just about feeling how much traction you have; you want to find the area between bogging the engine down and spinning the tires.
thanks, im def. going to work on that sh*t next time im at the track...

also thanks for all the advice so far.. i was fully aware that my times were sh*tty, thats why im asking for advice, im not sure the purpose of repeating how bad my times were.. if your trying to convince me trust me, i was fully aware before i even wrote this thread

Please read my post again. The only place that you are lacking is the launch. Whatever you are doing try a different technique. Running 2.0 seconds on street tires will become a habit. It will become automatic.

You just answered your own question with that. I'm not sure why this thread was made.

I see some excellent 60 foot times. My apologies for questioning you experience. We get a lot of advise in this forum by members who have never raced.
