It's all for fun anyways.

If you ever get the chance, it'd be cool if you ran a vortech Z from a roll or a dig. Typical setups have ~400whp, but much less torque, maybe around ~330-340 or so.

Your torque and HP numbers are basically reversed so it would be an interesting matchup.

Worn tires will grip BETTER at the track. I ran my best 60's on worn tires, LOL. The grooves only help for water removal and traction in mud/dirt/gravel/snow. That's why slicks are bare.

In general, worn street tires have less grip. Slicks or R-compounds with little or no tread are different than street tires with no tread.

I understand that they are different. They are made of different materials which is why you have to heat up slicks. But more rubber on the pavement = more traction even on the street, unless it's wet.

Edit: I withdraw my statement about the street. Bald tires would not be better there since the street isn't very flat and the edges of the tread will grip it somewhat. But at the track it's flat, so tread does nothing there. Now semi-worn tires I don't know about, but I don't see why they'd be any different than new tires. My Z's tires are down to about 3 mm of tread and I had no problems gripping (way past due to be changed).

The problem is that not only are they worn out but they are also Run-Flat tires. Which mean they are pretty stiff.
But usually they grip fairly good when warmed up. We'll see.

I don't get why any stock 07 Z would waste it's time racing a car with 400 tq to the wheels. Go race some other TT I6's....see how ya do. I got a friend with a stock Supra with 2 mods...you know, just a exhaut and dinner plate sized turbo. Should be a good race for ya....if he gives ya a 2 mile headstart.

I posted this a while back, but I raced a new 335 at Atlanta Dragway, back when my car had really low miles. Back then the race was very close, with neither car pulling on the other, once off the line. I won, only because I got off the line a bit quicker, then held him off by half a car the whole way through the 1/4.

I say it's a close race if you can drive really well, but it will come down to driving.

I just got back from the track. I met "warmmilk" and "icedoutis".
The track prep was horrible. Most of the cars I saw ran pretty crappy times.

I was only able to run 3 times in 5 hours.

On 2 runs my car knocked really bad when 3rd gear hit, ECU pulled timing and the car jerked violently. No codes. (ran a 16.9 @ 59 mph )
So I lowered the boost and the car ran fine on 3rd run, except I got massive whell spin and was only able to floor it halft way through 3rd gear, by that time I was almost half way through the strip but still managed to trap 107 mph .

Best I ran with knock was 13.3

icedoutis ran a 12.8 on a 2.1 60ft launching off idle

Don't feel bad, crappy track prep can get anyone not ready for it. Especially when it's good at first then turns crappy instantly, lol.

I experienced that, 5 runs in 6 hours thanks to a Camero dumping 6 quarts of oil over BOTH lanes.

Track went from so sticky that I didn't think I could spin a launch (6k RPM launch, then I missed second ) to a grease slick on the line from all the oil (they cleaned it, closed one lane it was so bad, but it was still crappy).

Managed mid 13.3's (80 degree weather) which I wasn't too unhappy with.

Launched lower than usual, had higher temps and no consistency between runs.

I think I might try Valdosta sometime after Easter and see if what I hear about it being a faster track is true.
