Default Stock 07 350z vs stock 335i

I am posting this because there is a lot of bashing on some of the forums in regards to this.

Who is willing to do this SAFELY or at the track and get it on camera?

Let me know your location and I will try to find a 335.

Please reply only if you have something positive or contributing to say.

make sure the 335i has the sport package with the oil cooler, other wise you will be sitting in the pits while the Z keeps tearing it up.

I'd say it would be a good race stock vs stock.

You should know that the most 335's dyno around 270-275whp. That puts it around 320 hp at the crank.

OK. Any volunteers?

336.

I have a "chip" and a cat-back exhaust (which has questionable gains).

After I get Downpipes next week, I'm hoping to dyno around 360whp/410+ wtq.

Both the Z and the 335i are great cars... I'd be happy with either of them.

that being said, I'm pretty sure the 335i would own the Z in almost every category... the bimmer's got lots of torque and it hits max hp very early thanks to it's twin turbo. With a few minor mods the 335i can be really fast. From what I've read, the 335i has more HP then they are advertising (BMW didn't want every one buying 335i's instead of M3's).

What are you trying to figure out?? from a stop? roll on? on a race track?

Absolutely.
It's not just about the power, but they are really awesome to drive and handle great. Plus I like the Nav and the features, interior design (subjective) etc.
Perfect combination of luxury and performance. The best of both worlds really. So to me, it's worth the money. To others it may not...and thats fine.

But german cars will always be more expensive. Thats just the way it is.

I thought we were talking stock here? Z hands down, modded, 335i of course, unless you put a twin turbo kit on the Z then its back to the Z.

The 335i just looks like another BMW to me, not sports car enough.

Well, I only asked because on the bimmer forums there are a lot of 350z owners that claim that the new 07 Z is faster. Thats fine with me.
But i'd be curious to see what the result would be.

BMW doesn't build pure sports cars. Never have and probably never will.

They blend luxury and performance.

Back on topic: Can we find a 07 350z to run a stock 335i?

do stock 335's run faster than low 13's stock with stock tires. if not then yes, the HR Z can hang. my buddy travis walker ran 13.4 at 106mph with a stock HR base Z on stock tires with a bad 2.2 60ft. i was there to see it with my own eyes and yes he has the slip to prove it.

Actually, it looks like I will meet up with Nismo350z and do a run with him on stock boost.

I will still have the cat-back exhaust, but I doubt that makes more than 5whp.

i think you underestimate/sandbag exhaust upgrade on a turbo based car. turbos need as much flow as they can get. N/A cars get more than 5whp with a good cat back exhaust.

In a pure drag, i dont think an HR Z would win. 335's have it beat in both the Hp and torque categories. However, i would lean towards the Z on a windy track.
