I don't know man their is a guy on here that put down 13.1 1/4 mile on his stock HR in the drag forum. I think it's really a drivers race. Modded now thats a different story. Those 335's are so cheap to make fast but then again they are much more expensive from the get go than the Z. Does anyone know what is currently the fastest 1/4 time for a stock 335i?

lets think about this for a second, twin turbo vs. N/A v6. it's never a fair fight when it comes to F/I vs. N/A

+1, plus, how can you get a true answer if one car is NOT truly stock? That's the whole point of the OP's thread right?

I don't even really think this thread needs to exist. We have 1/4 time slip's of an 07 already doing 13.1 to mid 13's to high 13's, now all he needs to really do is research time slips for his car and he'll get a round about answer.

In the end, it's obviously an ego thing and I think what's irked him the most is that there are "claims" that a N/A car that is $10k cheaper "might" possibly be just as fast as his luxury sports coupe that he paid $10k more for. I am sure his next test will be against a Mazda Speed3 or anything else he deems "lower" to his. It's apples and oranges, 2 different classes and a N/A V6engine versus a twin turbo.

At the drag strip, it really is a driver's race. From a roll, the 335i should pull especially over 100mph. I'd be willing to put up a video, but most if not all of the 335i guys I know are modded.

Modded is a whole different story. There is no FI available for the HR as of yet, but that's what it would take to compete with a piggy-backed 335i.

When you compare price, in order to compete with a 335i with ~$1500 in upgrades, it would cost roughly 10K invested into an '03-'06Z

No video but I raced a 07 Z 6sp stock with my old stock 335i coupe 6sp from a roll... The 335i pulled about 2 car lengths from 25 to 100. Both starting in 2nd gear.

I can think of 2 mods for a Z that would give it 400 whp/wtq and cost less than the price differential between a Z and 335. Wonder which would win? Perhaps such a Z should go to a 335 board and troll over on that board Oh yeah and they should go on that board looking for a stock 335!

335i is faster, period...the end.

And as far as the price difference, I love my new Z, but if I could afford a 335, I would definitely be driving one. They're just much nicer cars, you really can't compare a bmw and a nissan. But thats also why theres a 15k price difference between my Z and a 335I.

Its all driver dependent. Ive seen stock 335i's at the track that couldnt break 13.8. Who cares which one is faster. Wheres your time slips?

I'd be happy to. I'll be at the drag strip all day tomorrow as well, so it would be great if a local 335 would run me.

I think its a drivers race, the 335 with mods is gone, but stock it really would be dependent on so many variables that it would have to be a drivers race.

Stock for Stock, very similiar in a straight line...

But mod factor, Twin turbo setup is sooo cheap/easy to make fast.

I think anyone here would have picked the 335i over the Z if they were teh same price...you get a lot with the BMW.

Not stock. My friend owns one, and I beat him on rolls, stop races all the time. He is close, but he is usually a car back or so before I let off.

But if the car was chipped, he would definitely beat me.

i would say that a HR with 4.0 gears would certainly favor the HR but its not stock for stock at that point. FI really creates a unfair hp adavantage as far as ecu tuning is concerned clearly alot more room for making power then a high comp NA engine. Chipped it would probably take a FI kit on the HR to compensate. i mean you cant scoff at some of the tq numbers there getting. 410 rwhp lmao

You do know there is a weight difference right?? You can't pull a typical motortrend comparison and look at the HP/TRQ then declare a winner.

If the 335 is so great why was it not faster then the M3???

I mean it is not the pinnacle of the 3 series is it????

You get alot a car you are probably unable to afford once it gets out of warranty that will rattle like a piece of crap!!!

I own a M3 so my comments are from that of some one who owns a BMW 3 series dont think they are all that great!!!!

Don't rule out weight distribution, gearing, aerodynamics, suspension, and skidpad either. I don't have an opinion but I just wanted to point that out. Even if it is better/faster/whatever, it's also more expensive... I like my Z.
