Default Have to drive far to race, best tire.

I will have my F/I setup properly tuned here soon but in order for me to hit the track I need to drive for a couple hours. I may not be able to change my rims out at the track so I'm looking for a wheel and tire combo that will hold some good power (about 500whp) and still give some life while I drive a couple hours to get there.

I'm working on a trailer currently but until I get one built I was wondering what my best options are. I have the stock rear 17's for the z in the garage, not sure if I can fit a DR on there that will keep traction for my power levels.

Thanks in advance.

I drive 100 miles each way on my M/T ET Street D/R's and have done so many many times. Long as it doesn't rain real hard, I've had no real issues.

If the tire is on the highway I would definitely give speed rating and rain characteristics a priority. What good is a tire that gives you a 1.90 second 60-foot time, and you wreck the car on the way home?

Staying alive is a a must, lol. Honestly I would like to travel at 80mph and I would not go if it was going to rain. That said, who can predict the weather.

put some et streets on the stockers, get a nice lug wrench and floor jack, pull your passenger seat and drive to the track with your track wheels in the car use a bike chain to secure your street setup somewhere. I did this forever in my old cars.

I cruise at 85mph and still no issues. PSI 28. Last time to the track had some fun on I-75 with another Z, M3,and a bad a$$ little mini cooper. It was real early on a Sunday morning and there was no traffic. 110-120mph and still no issues with the tires.
