Default Wheels aren't making the 1>2 shift chirp

I noticed that my tires stopped chirping when I shift into second. It used to do it every single time (last summer), and since then nothings changed on the car (no mods, same tires). I've driven it between now and last summer but rarely because I was away at school, so it did a lot of sitting in the garage. But even when I did drive it, it was never WOT. I can't figure out what would be causing this.

Should I be concerned, could I have lost some hp/tq somehow? I've never had it dyno'd, but for what it's worth, it feels just as quick as it used to but I'm not really sure what to think. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

There's 4000 miles on the clutch, and I just had the clave cylinder recall done a week ago. Could this be it, or maybe my shifting technique has changed slightly without me realizing it?

Don't you want to minimize chirping anyway in the 1/4?

Typically that's when your wheels would spin shifting from first to second. You know, stright line, WOT. Sounds like drag racing to me.

Yeah, but the fact that the chirping stopped without changing anything on the car makes me think I'm losing power or something.

I would want to keep torque to the drive wheels always. If you let off the gas, picked up the RPM, then come in hard on the next gear, I suppose you could get the tires to chirp. The chirp is cool. ET would stink.

Your driving technique has slowly changed. No big deal.

My guess is something with my technique changed without me noticing due to the long period of not driving it. No reason to lose any sleep I guess. Thanks to those who've helped.

There are a lot of factors, which include the surface, clutch and tires.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, as I run my best times when the tires bite without slipping first.
