I will really believe that when I see it. I have seen too many RX8's at the strip running mid 15's at best. Perhaps at a fast track you might run low 15's high 14's. I don't think you can pick up enough rwhp to knock at least 1 second off your quarter with those mods.

not sure. I think the engine is bogging down in third and forth. plus I am running cheep gas. If I ran a higher octane my top end would be much better.

His trap is so low because his launch is so nice.

The better you 60', the lower your trap.

ie:

I trap 112 (12.7) with a 2.0 sixty-foot.
I trap 107 (12.5) with a 1.7 sixty-foot.

How far do you take your 1st gear (RPM-wise) before shifting into 2nd??

I got my Z (first stick shift car) at the end of June 2004 so I would be kinda upset/embarassed taking my nice Z to Englishtown Raceway Park, NJ and running a $hitty 16.XXX time like I did in my old 98 AUTO TRANSMISSION Toyota Corolla. (Hehe, good times!).....When someone on the streets wants to go at it from a redlight or whatever, I usually shift from 1st into 2nd around 5K...is this OK on occasion as I don't want to break anything. I had to replace my engine on the Corolla recently from too much NOS.

Anyways, under normal driving I usually shift from 1st into 2nd around 3K and have my shift light set for 4200 RPM (blinks around 3700 RPM. Thanks for your help everyone...hope to take it to the track soon!! Peace all...

I shift at redline in every single gear.

My best ET: 13.794 @ 102.19
My best Trap: 102.82

Both at Englishtown on 10/3/2004 with just a K&N drop in and RSR exhaust.

y0shi: how good are you at shifting/driving stick?? Did you come off the line in first gear or I hear some people start at third (I'm not sure why!?!?)

When you crossed the finish line, what gear did you end up in?? Third if you started at first?? I have no engine mods, just Hawk HPS "love how I can drive 2 weeks with clean front wheels and no brake dust" pads...looking to get an AEM CAI soon (unless someone else reccomends other). Injen CAI? JWT Popcharger? K&N Drop in? Thanks...

Oh, and do you all give it more gas on the line and hold down on the clutch until the green light??

I used to be a regular at Englishtown with my 98 Corolla (AUTOMATIC) pushing a 55 shot until I blew my engine (NOTCVIC on the license plate). I'm afraid I'm gonna stall out at the line or something and make an a$$ of myself...LOL
