Default first time running my 03 Z Touring

Best time of the day was a 14.288, was at New England Dragway, it was about 98 degrees out, lots of humitidity, i dont know how badly the heat affected my time. Its a 2003 350z Touring, bone stock down to the tires, 42,000 miles on it. I weighed in at 3188lbs with me in the car.

Good times for the weather. That track usually yields good times... its only 80 feet above sea level.

On colder weather, you would be high 13's.

Doesn't appear as though temperature had a significant effect on trap speed: you are picking up 21.6 MPH in the second 660 feet.

I would like to see a 2.0 second 60 foot time with 9.1 second 1/8 mile time. That would give you a 13.XX second final ET. The Z has the potential.

any other z's there to compare trap speed to. and was that one of you faster traps. do you feel your shifting fast and not hitting rev limiter. a friend of mine was upset about his results and let another friend drive. the second driver went slower in 60' and picked up a little over 2mph in trap and dropped .3 off e.t.
hopefully we can roll deep next time to the track

Actually my fastest trap of the day was 100.90, but was a 14.312, 60' time was a 2.209. I did feel i was shifting fast enough, no rev limiter interuptions etc etc. I was not launching it very hard tho, it was mainly a 3,500 rpm slipping the clutch out (not poping the clutch). Traction was decent, but like i said it was hot as hell out that day. A kid that was with me with a modded bmw 335xi who usually runs 13.0's couldnt break 13.4's, (let alone his oil temp was sky high).

Unfortunatly there were no other Z's or G's there to compare my times/traps with, it was a Camaro Firebird day. The only non camaro's/firebirds were me, a 335xi, 1 wrx, 1 sti, and 2 srt4's.

When ever you wanna go LTW!! You let me know, either NH or NJ, i wanna do NJ on a friday so we can hit the track at night, the gates open for Time Trials at 5pm fridays and wednesdays.

Here's my best 03 touring on kdw,s 245/45/18. I expected alittle better. Utec was not turned on, no tune yet. any other suggestions on getting 60' foot time down. There was another Z there today, didn't get a chance to talk to him, looked like an 06, his best was a 13.1. RIGHT LANE

Are you sure your car is stock..

This is what the weight of a 03 Touring should be...

Touring (mt) 3247 (at) 3239

Totally positive, the only thing that i removed out of the car was spare tire, and the trunk mat. Weighed in with exactly 1/4 tank of gas @ 3188lbs with me in it, i talked to the workers at the booth at the strip and they said their scale is calibrated down to the 1lb. I only weight 130lbs myself. Leaving my car to weigh 3058lbs, next time i'll go with an 1/8th tank of gas to make it a lil lighter.

I think i could have definitely launched the car alot harder, i was just scared to break something since its a 3 hour drive back home and it was more of a base stock run anyway. Next time, there will be no mercy...

NED is a pretty fair track. I ran a 13.9 there in my Z with a few mods and 2.2 60'. If you go to the right events its prepped really good. If you go to time trials on Wednesdays or Fridays, they dont usually use the sticky spray stuff, (EET or something like that.)

Yea i went on a Saturday Camaro/Firebird day and they spent all morning spraying down the VHT (sticky stuff), it actually worked real well but made me afraid to launch my car too hard and break something haha. Not worth it for a base run.

If you dont wheel hop, chances are your not gonna break anything stock. If it ends up gripping that good. Your either just gonna bog because your not giving enough gas, or your stock clutch is gonna get a little angry and slip a little. Or ofcourse you'll just have an awesome launch. But shouldnt be any breaking really.

your time is similar to my 05 base time. its obviously u had some weight reduction though because the base model is the lightest model and weighs that. 2nd you have to remember that the touring has a different gear ratio then the other model 350zs. the normal z is around a 3.5 i think and the touring models is like a 3.3. (correct the ratios if they are wrong but i know the touring has different gear ratio).
i spun really bad for my run but here is my run
r/t .700
60 2.302
330 6.156
1/8 9.294
mph 79.59
1000 11.968
1/4 14.225
mph 99.63

now keep in mind that was my first tiime with this car at the track and i had bad tires. i spun badly in 1st, 2nd, and let off a little in 3rd to grab traction.
i have done some mods and i got better wider tires since then so when i go back when track opens i should be running much better

one thing that will help your time is getting final drive gears. the 350z touring isnt geared for drag racing as i stated above
