Question Am I being too compulsive

I did break in oil changes with regular oil at 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000, 5000 & 7000 miles - then at 8,500 I switched to royal purple and ran the car (about 20 runs) two ocassions at the drag strip... I changed again at 9500 ran the car (again about 20 laps each time) two different trips... then changed at 11000 went to the track and made 2 runs - at 12500 I switched to Motul 300v ran the car (about 20 times) one trip to the track. I'm at about 13200 right now...I'm going to the track on Friday and I feel like I should change it before I go.(going to stick w/ the motul 300v) I've been standing with the tech (at my husbands shop) when he does my changes and the oil has been a little dark, but not black. What is the appropriate time/mileage/visit to the track interval for oil changes?

Can you spell OCD...oops I just did. You run your car pretty hard so a oil change every 1k is normal.

yeah, i know I'm one of those people that washes the dishes, then puts them in the dishwasher... vaccuum the dog ect... I wax my car so freaking much I have to wash it in dawn to strip the wax off before I do it again. Even though I know the oil is synthetic and it's not sludging I just feel like it's dirty and I dont want it in there anymore. So 1k is normal?

Don't you start being like WHITEY..lol

lol eh filters only a few bucks, no way i'd change the oil without changing the filter. It's not a matter of saving up for the nitrous.. it's a matter of convincing the husband that i won't kill myself or the car.
how dare you compare me to that f'n moron!!!

wow, looks like I need to change my oil more often...I don't go to the track that much, but I change mine every 3-4k miles. At like $80 per change, that gets expensive. I used to change it every like 1500 miles when the dealership I worked at carried amsoil, and I would get an oil change for only $22 with filter. Was great.

Your wasting your $$$$ changing those synthetics so often. 3000 miles now-a-days is nothing for oil, even when run HARD, I have oil analysis to back that up.

Nope I dont share my oil analysis with the community. But the only part you need to worry about here is the TBN in terms of how much life/detergents the oil had left, and trust me it was plenty. The rest of the analysis is much different between a built and stock motor.

Everything from Motul to Mobil 1 Euro 0w-40 has worked very well.

If you've never done it or want to learn more check this out, for as cheap as it is I dont know why more people (especially built) dont do this.

I change my oil a lot also, so I won't fault you there.

But how often do you really wax? I think it's silly to strip the wax simply to re-wax it. Don't forget a good polish. Polish makes pretty, wax protects.

I also know that in my engine running Motul (ran 2 diff kinds) and Euro M1, there is no difference oil life wise/detergent wise at all changing at 2500-3500 miles apart with my driving abuse. In short, Motul is for suckers and overkill for most, thats why I dont run it anymore.

Wow. I thought I was the only sicko! Not really, but I had hoped
I wasn;t. my car gets oil changes every 90 days regardless of mileage
(usually 2-2.5K). It gets waxed every 60 days, and washed at least twice
a week. The compliments I get from friends and strangers are reason
enough.

Bryce-check Advance Auto parts, they always have it there, but this is the hardest M1 to find.

For those wondering, other than being provided with values for copper, potassium, lead, etc and comparing it to other VQ's, Blackstone provides explanations of what is going on. Below is an exerpt from one of my many "blood tests" TBN after 3000 miles was very high, usually they start at 8 or 9. The lower the number the less additive the oil had at the point of the test. For comparison my $+40 Motul had a lower TBN at the same mileage. $25 M1 Euro FTW

Someone suckered me into running royal purple.. then that same someone suckered me into running motul.
it's ok though, I like knowing that my car is being oiled up the spoiled way. She drinks top shelf, gets polished frequently, and runs on the most expensive **** available. Kinda like me.

Hey if you want to run it, its not bad oil. I think changing oil provides a similar effect on us both, after changing mine, my car feels just a tad stronger, so you want to do it again sooner.
