Took the Z to the track tonight
Well first off I'm mad at myself. I couldn't launch the car to save my life. It was either bog or boil. Then the track prep was crap, every time I hit 2nd gear it would break em loose again. I'm very happy with the cars performance though. It runs very strong, if I can get my 60' time down another 2 tenths it will be in the low 13's its definitely a driver issue at the moment
But anyways, here is my best pass of the night. Ironically my best run in my Cobalt SS/SC had the same exact 60' time... I'll post that for a comparison. I'll see about getting this time slip scanned one day soon to added to the 1/4 time board.

Good times for both cars.
I love to analyze time slips:
Z
8.990 - first 1/8 @ 80.45 MPH
4.803 - last 1/8 + 21.75 MPH
Cobalt
8.948 - first 1/8 @ 79.85
4.893 - last 1/8 + 23.9 MPH
All though the Cobalt beat the Z in the first half of the track, the Z made it up in the last half. But the Cobalt crossed the line 1.5 MPH quicker. And although the Cobalt was faster to the first 1/8 and gained more MPH on the last 1/8 it still lost... numbers are amazing.

Yeah I thought it was pretty neat as well. The Cobalt had great top end, just super hard to launch. That was the best 60' I got out of the Cobalt. Not bad for the stock tires on that car. Now I just need to get the Z's 60' down to the 1.9 to 2.0 area and I'll be golden.

Were you doing a couple of brief burn outs first?

I was looking into this a bit more today. I played with the DA calculator on Dragtimes.com and came up with interesting results. I have the timeslips that show times and dates so the info is pretty accurate. Basically the Z had slightly worse conditions but still a bit faster.
When I made that pass in the Cobalt the conditions were as follows
Gainesville Raceway Elevation 147ft, December 1 2007
|1:53 PM| |73.0 F| |59 % humidity| |30.25 in|
Density Altitude: 855 feet
Relative Density: 97.52 %
The Z's conditions
Gainesville Raceway Elevation 147ft, October 25 2008
|5:53 PM| |72.0 F| |61 % humidity| |29.94 in|
Density Altitude: 1211 feet
Relative Density: 96.5 %
Yeah, it seems to be but I think there is a few more tenths to be had from mine. I'm not to proud of that 2.145 60'. If I knock it down some more I think I can squeak a 13.3 or so out of it.
For every tenth you gain in the 60' you'll get 2 tenths in the 1/4mile. So you'll need a 1.9x 60' to run 13.3. Not impossible, but not easy either.
very true, but I was able to get the Cobalt down to consistent 2.1 60's on the stock tires so I have faith in my abilities to get the Z down to the 1.9 area with some practice.
