Default Went to the track....Give me your .02 **Vids Up**

06 350z BASE. Mods in Sig. Running Falken 452 street tires 275/40/18 9.5" wide rim.

First Run:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBeY6Wx7jSI

I launched at 3k and the car jumped hard and then bogged. I had the tire pressure at about 30psi. I tried to get a good burnout in, but I have an open diff which makes it hard to get both tires to spin.

Results:

R/T .435
60' 2.236
330 6.292
1/8 9.609
MPH 74.31
1000 12.436
E.T. 14.829
MPH 94.49

Second Run:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OyKbyGQ_Mg

Dropped the tire pressure to about 20psi. This time I did get both tires spinning in the burnout. Since I bogged at 3K I decided to rev to 4k. The car felt pretty good out of the hole. It did bog a little. But I missed 3rd gear like a dumbass.

Results:

R/T .366
60' 2.211
330 6.252
1/8 9.801
MPH 70.18
1000 12.748
E.T. 15.223
MPH 91.61

So what am I doing wrong? Should I rev even higher next time? How do my shift's sound( besides 3rd gear lol)? I know this car can get a better 60'.

Yes I was on street tires. It was pretty cool last night so I thought a burnout would help.

Your MPH is very low on both runs. Especially for the 300hp REVup engine, and the mods you have.

You need to make sure you are taking it all the way to redline in every gear. Ideally, you will want to shift about a split second before the rev limiter kicks in.

Just keep in mind that hitting the rev limiter in any gear will cost you 2-3mph in the top end.

-Tim

Edit: Just watched the videos. What RPM were you shifting at? Also, it looked like you were dumping the clutch off the line. Try holding 5k, and slipping the clutch out for about 10-15 feet (to transfer the weight to the rear tires), then dumping it the rest of the way out.

Last time I dynoed my car my torque fell off at 6300 so that is where I was shifting. On the first run I did dump the clutch. On the second run I tried to slip the clutch and lay into the throttle but adrenaline kicked in and I floored it.

Had to watch the video several times. Are you short shifting first gear? Are you shifting to fifth gear just before the finish line?

Sounded like you were short shifting. That would explain the lower than usual trap speed. You should be close to 100.

As I said earlier, take it ALL the way to redline.

Doing so, will put you deeper into the powerband for the next gear, and will increase your MPH in the 1/4.

shifts seem quick enough, your 60' times are fine, its just the trap thats killing you.

I looked at my slips and bone stock i went:
2.26 60'
9.14 1/8th @ 79.60
14.08 1/4 @ 99.01

Like others have said try taking it all the way to redline. seems like your driving technique is there, just push the car to its potential.

You guys gotta remember the OP is in Las Vegas. His first trap speed isn't far off the norm for this crappy DA.

yea from what i have been told going threw water on street tires result in water sitting in your tread. and by the time you get to the line the water is sitting there ready to make you not hook. and doing a huge burnout on street tires dosent help.

Density Altitude. Its why a comparison between my ET (at 320 feet) and your ET is ludicrous.

Nice numbers. Unfortunately you cannot race a dyno chart.
