Question Cecil County Dragway First Time Visit

I searched and read for about an hour and I cannot find answers to a few questions I have for drag racing my stock 2007 Nissan 350Z NISMO for the first time.

What RPM is best to launch at? It looks like 2500 would be the best, by looking at a dyno graph.

Should I shift at 4800 maximum torque or at 6800 for maximum HP? I like to set my RPM light to +500 to what I really want to shift it since I hate that it flashes and then stays lit at the set RPM.

Should I power shift and keep flooring the gas through the gears?

Should I run with TC on or off?

Can I do a standing burnout (by power braking) by just pressing the TC button or do I have to unplug a fuse/cable?

Thank you! Anyone else with a 350Z going to Cecil County on 11-28-2008?

In addition, I love to autocross and drift. Here are my videos for the Greater Reading Auto Expo I went to recently. Drifting it really fun, but I might need to upgrade my LSD eventually for holding predictable drifts.

okay here we go launch at 2750, shift at redline, powershifting wouldnt really help u because you would lose traction when shifting which slows you down, ummm lets see TCS OFF! dont do a burn out you have street tires so its not gonna benefit u, just do a quick tire cleaning burn out. u can find most of the stuff i just said just search a lil harder but im not gonna be an dick but someone will just warning u

Just go and run it. Then ask questions once we can look at your timeslips to see where you can improve.

In addition, I posted anyways because I wanted to know if anyone one here was going to drag this Friday or has had experience at Cecil County Dragway. I have been to Maple Grove Raceway, but only as a spectator.

If I remember, I will post my time slips. It probably will not be great, but whatever. Especially since I am missing a row of tread on the right rear from drifting the car as shown in my first original post's video.

I do not see why shifting at redline would help, since the HP peaks at 6800 RPM and the torque at 4800 RPM? May you (or someone else) explain why shifting at redline is better?

The theory sounds good but practical application is quite different:

New racers often ask “When do I shift?” Experienced racers know when their car runs out of steam or is no longer accelerating. 6,000 RPM. 6,500 RPM. 7,000 RPM. There are days when my car dies at 6,500 RPM. And days when I can push 6,500 plus RPM.

More important is where do you come into the next gear? Are you in the peak torque range? Or are you below the peak torque range?

And go AROUND the water box also. Cecil is a great track to get your 1st times. Dnt be afraid to vary your launch rpms. Good luck

just give a try at shifting at 4800,powershifting,keeping traction control on and do a huge burnout. just to see what you would pull

I think that would make me go slower.

No speed citations so far for me too (in reference to blktrack350's signature).

I "had" to work overtime on Friday and was unable to go. I checked Cecil County's Web site and it was the last Grudge Match of the season. Now I have to wait until Feb. 2009 to drive my first 1/4.
