Default Heading out to the track tomorrow.

Been trying to run my 06 since the day I bought it and finally have the opportunity tomorrow. I've raced at the track many many times so no noob here but never with a RWD.

Any advice on the launch? From what I've practiced I've seen pretty minimum wheel spin launching from 4-4500 rpm and side stepping the clutch. Would that be correct for the track? Also powershifting, how much of a beating can this trans take? Assuming every powershift engagement is smooth as butter?

I've done searching but not many true answers came up from my experience at the track.

You guys must have great track prep.....I tend to launch at about 2800-3000 and I try to be pretty easy on the trans. I say just go out there and give it hell to see what it likes and doesn't like. It will tell you what it likes and reward you with solid times. Good luck....Be safe.

You will figure out the difference between front and rear wheel drive right away. As soon as the tires "bite," weight will shift from the front over the rear tires. That’s the time to hit the gas.

Yea our track prep is ridiculously good. But they say that Atco is one of the fastest tracks in the country so we will see. But thanks for the replies.

So I just got back. Ran with alittle above 1/4 tank with no spare and carpet. I could do alot better out there. Pretty much runs went like this:

1st run: Sucked because off the line I spun and the clutch stuck to the floor typical in the 350Z's, but basically that's it.

Tire Pressure 40 both sides
Launch 4k Slipping the clutch

60' 2.306

1/8th 9.830
MPH 77.64

1/4 14.776 (haha, didn't mean to make 350Z owners look so bad)
98.54 mph

2nd run: Launched at 2500 dumping the clutch. Clutch once again stayed on the floor.

60' 2.703

1/8th 9.687
79.88

1/4 14.554
101.42 mph

3rd Run: Dialed in Tire Pressure to 20 psi and launched at 3500 rpm slipping the clutch.

60' 2.336

1/8th 9.306
79.55 mph

1/4 14.191
101.01 mph

4th run I had the same setup as the 3rd run but dumped/slipped the clutch at 2500 rpm. Hooked really good.

60' 2.157

1/8th 9.066
79.85 mph

1/4 13.948
100.85 mph

After the 13.9 run started to rain a bit so I left. Given the same track conditions as today, better clutch, and tire setup I believe I could do a 13.4-13.5 pass. Just need to slip the clutch a little more for that 1.9 60'. I'm still trying to improve the run though. My mph seems slow should be able to pull off a 101-102. Might try and play with shift points was shifting at 6900 almost 7k.

launching at 4 grand is way to high on street tires....i launched at the track at like 2800-3000 depending on the track hooking, and feather it out but im dumpin it pretty quick and all into it and power shifting from 2nd to 3rd and 4th...went 2.1 60ft. with a 13.7 at 101 (03z just intake)...work on the shifting and launching

Reason for the high tire pressure was I wanted a quick baseline run and actually forgot to dial it down. Not much in the shifting department to improve on since I'm powershifting. I figured it's all in my launch. Need some better tread and a better clutch. If I can't slip the clutch then a 2.1 60' is the best I can do unless I get a magical run in there.

Tylerx: on that 13.7 run what was your 330', 1/8 time and mph? Let's see where my car is slowing down at.

Nice improvement, at least you hit 13's the first time out, better than most can say.

x2 to Alberto...

Not bad for a first time out... the clutch slip is key... I have a bit more torque on hand but I've had really good luck around 2200 rpm and a long slow release off the clutch. Of course I also don't have to fight my pedal sticking to the floor so that definately sucks.

Get out there again man and I think you can hit those mid 13s.
