finally got to a track
Finally got down to a track to see how I could do. Went to Mid America Motorplex (1/8th mile track) for Friday Night Street Racing. I loved how the place was organized. The old strip I used to go to in Ohio I would go for 3 hours and maybe run 3 times. I was there for 2 1/2 hours or so and made 11 passes. Best ET I had was 9.74, best top speed was 74.26, and best reaction time was 0.007 (
) Took me a while to get into the groove of how to launch properly on a strip, but finally got it close at least (i think). Was shooting for 9.5, but couldn't find that quarter second.
Lot of nice cars there. Lined up at one point next to a Viper and was actually beating him at half track (launch was even worse than mine)...then he blew past me, lol. Had a really good time, already figured out the mod that I need to improve my times substantially.........the important driver mod
lol

^ Good Stuff... I have been wanting to take my car out to the track as well, but haven't yet. I am not to familiar with 1/8 mile times, what 1/4 mile pace were you on with these times, you know?
I have no idea. I'm not too familiar with eighth mile times either. I know I was making far from perfect passes, so I know a 9.5 is there, probably even faster with a better driver than me. This was with tire pressure dropped to 25 psi all around.
Your 1/4 Mile ET is 15.21 seconds computed from your vehicle 1/8th ET of 9.74 seconds.
Your 1/4 Mile MPH is 92.08 MPH computed from your vehicle 1/8th MPH of 74.26 MPH.

Thanks davidv. Eee, if my 1/4 mile time is 15.21 seconds, I definitely need to work on it, lol, I know this car is faster than that!
In my defense though, I think this is only the 3rd time I've ever driven on a drag strip, lol. Still, consistent fast times is one of those things that comes with a lot of practice. I consider myself a good driver on the road, but faaaaar from an amazing driver when it comes to racing.

Don't worry man you'll get there. When I started it was mid 9's as well. Eventually I got down to the 8.9's in the 1/8th trapping around 79mph (fast enough to hang with decent cars out there) and I still have room for improvement. Practice is key. Fun as hell isn't it?
Yeah, it was a blast. I was kind of surprised how calm I felt though. When I went in Ohio with my old Talon I could barely keep the clutch pressed in cause I was shaking so much from the adrenaline rush. This time I was calm and just concentrating on what I needed to do, then right after what I needed to do to go faster next pass, and then making the adjustment (if it worked or not was a different story, lol)
